The purpose of this position is to perform entry level carpentry work in repairing and replacing
floors, roofs, stairways, furniture, cabinets, doors and windows,
Duties:
Perform daily work orders and
inspect buildings for problems
Assist carpenters in construction projects
Perform monthly PM’s on exit lights and inspection
of fire extinguishers
Assist other trades in shops including Plumbing, HVAC Electrical and Paint
Log hours and a description
of work done and materials used in performing work orders.
Regularly scheduled on call duty required.
Requirements:
High School diploma or GED is required along with a valid NC driver’s license. Ability to
work independently and safely without supervision is essential. The position requires someone with strong communication skills Candidates
should have demonstrated ability to take accountability and direct activity of the team. Work will require working in awkward or cramped
areas work and both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather. After hours duty is required on a rotating schedule to handle trouble
calls. Position is classified as essential personnel during inclement weather and school closings.

Preferred qualifications include entry level carpentry skills
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
The
purpose of this position is for the maintenance & repair of campus buildings, college housing and plant campus buildings, college housing
and plant equipment.
