Your Role: As an Alcohol Server in the Catering & Banquet Operations Department, you will greet guests, answer questions about alcohol, recommend menu items, and prepare/serve beverages. This position plays a key role in creating memorable experiences for our clients by greeting guests, answering questions regarding alcohol selections and menu items and creating a variety of beverages for each event. An engaging and friendly personality is essential, as well as being efficient, observant, knowledgeable, and personable.



This position requires evening, weekend and holiday work.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Welcoming
    guests, reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences,
    making recommendations, and taking drink orders. 
  • Reviewing
    event details prior to event start time to ensure planning and product is
    in place and prepared for all needs as outlined on event orders. 
  • Selecting
    and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to
    guests.
  • Checking
    identification to ensure guests are the legal age to purchase
    alcohol. 
  • Participant
    in developing new cocktail recipes.
  • Taking
    inventory and ordering supplies to ensure bars are well stocked. 
  • Handling
    cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate
    and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash
    register. 
  • Maintaining
    a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and
    washing glasses, utensils, and equipment. Ensures safe handling of food,
    alcohol and equipment.
  • Handles
    customer complaints, actively resolves internal problems wherever
    possible, and follows through with necessary actions and effective
    communications.
  • Other
    duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High

    University Fleet Safety Policy.

    meet state minimum age to serve alcohol.
  • Must
    be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Title 4 Alcohol Server Certification or ability to obtain prior to serving alcohol and within 30 days of hire.
