Job Summary
This dual-role position serves as both a position coach for the H-Back and Tight End group and as the Video Coordinator for the Chicago State University football program. The incumbent will report to the Head Football Coach and assist in building a competitive Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) program through player development, strategic support, and comprehensive video operations.
Job Description
Primary Responsibilities
Coaching – H-Back & Tight Ends
* Develop, coach, and mentor student-athletes at the H-Back and Tight End positions, emphasizing technique, fundamentals, accountability, and situational football knowledge.
* Implement position-specific drills, schemes, and conditioning programs during practices and game week.
* Collaborate closely with the Offensive Coordinator and head coach to integrate H-Back and Tight End roles into the game plan.
* Evaluate player performance, create individualized improvement plans, and assist in roster and depth chart management.
* Attend recruiting events and participate actively in scouting and evaluation of prospective student-athletes (within NCAA and conference rules).
* Support academic monitoring and player welfare initiatives as part of a holistic student-athlete development model. (Typical for college coaching positions.)
Video Coordination & Film Operations
* Film Production & Editing: Capture high-quality video of practices, scrimmages, and games; generate coach and player cut-ups; and produce scouting and self-scouting video packages. (Higher Ed Jobs)
* Film Exchange & Library: Manage video exchange with upcoming opponents and maintain an up-to-date, organized video library. (Higher Ed Jobs)
* Distribution: Ensure timely distribution of film to coaches and players for strategy preparation, weekly game plans, and position meetings. (Higher Ed Jobs)
* Technology & Equipment: Maintain video hardware and software, troubleshoot technical challenges, and recommend new tools or upgrades to improve video workflows. (Intercollegiate)
* Student Staff Supervision: Hire, train, and oversee student video assistants and volunteers; coordinate schedules and job assignments. (Intercollegiate)
* Content & Highlights: Produce highlight reels, opponent breakdowns, and thematic video content for recruiting, coaching meetings, and department media use.
Game Day & Practice Involvement
* Attend all practices, home and away games, film sessions, and coaching meetings.
* Coordinate all video setup, run film capture stations, and ensure equipment readiness before drills and game action.
* Support coaching staff in video playback sessions during practices and half-time if requested.
* Provide quality coaching input on game day while performing broadcast and live video duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Experience playing and/or coaching football at the collegiate level (preferably with tight ends or H-Back/TE groups).
- Proficiency with football video systems such as Hudl, DV Sport, XOS, or similar platforms.
- Strong technical skills with video recording and editing tools, and ability to manage complex file systems.
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written – to effectively interact with student-athletes, staff, and departmental partners.
- Commitment to NCAA compliance and ethical standards
- Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see, and hear to perform essential functions
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a video coordinator or assistant in an NCAA program.
- Recruiting experience and/or familiarity with FCS recruiting processes and platforms.
- Coaching background involving offensive schemes and player development at the position level.
- Ability to teach and develop student video staff.

Physical Requirement/ Demands
* Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 30 pounds.

Work Environment
- Flexible schedule with frequent evenings, weekends, and travel with the team.
- Work both indoors (analysis/editing) and outdoors (practice/game filming).
- May require lifting and setup of video equipment.
