The University is seeking to hire a full-time Assistant Professor in one of the following areas: (i) Deep Learning and Deep Neural Networks; (ii) Evolutionary Computation; (iii) Machine Learning and Data Mining areas. Candidates should have (1) a PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a relevant discipline; (2) a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals of good international standing and/or university presses; (3) a good track record in competitive grant applications in the relevant areas; (4) experience in applying Deep Learning/Evolutionary Computation/Machine Learning/Data Mining in real life contexts; and (5) relevant teaching experience.
The appointee will join the Faculty of Business (https://www.ln.edu.hk/fb/) and will be expected to conduct research projects and publish outputs with high impact, teach courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and participate in academic and professional activities. In particular, the appointee is expected to apply for external competitive grant, and commit to teaching excellence and active services to the Faculty and the University. Candidates are required to provide evidence of their research records and quality teaching. A proven record in academic leadership and institutional service would be a distinct advantage. Short-listed candidates will be requested to provide a sample course syllabus in the relevant field before the interview.
The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity, and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee.
Appointment will normally be made on an initial contract of three years, which, subject to review and mutual agreement, may normally lead to longer-term appointment with possibility of consideration for substantiation.
