The School of Social Policy is a diverse community of scholars whose work coalesces around its mission to understand the world and also to change it. We pursue this mission via our teaching, research and engagement and impact activities. We deliver a suite of undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education programmes across our three departments – Health Services Management Centre, Social Work and Social Care and Social Policy, Sociology and Criminology – to a diverse student population. We undertake research to make a difference, collaborating with our research partners from private, public and third sectors, and with people who draw on care and support and their carers. We are recognised as a leading centre of expertise, ranking in the top 50 QS World University rankings.
To strengthen further our social care expertise, the School is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor to play an active role in the delivery and expansion of the School’s social care research. The post-holder will join an established team in the School, working alongside colleagues from IMPACT (the UK centre for implementing evidence in adult social care), the ESRC Centre for Care and the NIHR School for Social Care Research. A key aim will be to develop and lead social care research bids, building teams and supporting other colleagues to develop their research expertise. They will also contribute to relevant teaching and CPD programmes, the continued development of the School’s policy and practice networks, and engagement with people with lived experience in developing, undertaking and sharing our research.
The post-holder will contribute to life of the School, College and University working with staff to deliver excellent teaching, research, engagement and impact. They will join the most relevant department of the School.
We welcome applications from those with a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject with an international reputation for high quality publications, grant capture and impact and excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as successful supervision of postgraduate researchers.
The School is strongly committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and is particularly seeking applications from underrepresented groups. Applications will be assessed against the stated criteria and on merit.
