China Airlines Jet to be Covered in Pokémon

Animenewsnetwork - Interest

This jet, named the “Pikachu Jet CI” will operate mainly in the Asia region, including flights between Tokyo and Taipei.

The Pokémon Company has recently announced that China Airlines will be the newest airline to have a Pokémon-themed jet in the air.

This jet, named the “Pikachu Jet CI” will operate mainly in the Asia region, including flights between Tokyo and Taipei. The livery itself will feature eleven Pokémon on a purple background and have fun little accents like pokéballs on the engines.

“Pikachu Jet CI” will join the already-in-service “Pikachu Jet BC1” and “Pikachu Jet BC2” operated by Skymark Airlines in Japan. These planes primarily operate on routes to and from Japan’s tropical island of Okinawa but occasionally fly to other locations around Japan as well. Flying on one of these planes gives you access to various Pokémon-themed inflight amenities and services—as well as the ability to purchase related merch.

The official Pokémon Air Adventures website also hints that similar Pikachu jets are in the works for markets across the world so soon you may be able to fly on one of these planes even if you aren’t heading to Asia.

T.M. Revolution Shows Off His Midriff in New Commercial

Animenewsnetwork - Interest

Takanori Nishikawa, also known as the singer T.M. Revolution, takes center stage in the new commercial for the smartphone game, Touhou Arcadia Record. In the commercial the 51-year-old cosplays as popular Touhou character Reimu Hakurei—and sports his impressive midriff in the process.

The 30 second commercial casts Nishikawa as a high school student sleeping in class. But when his teacher discovers him sleeping and throws a piece of chalk at him, he awakens and strips off his uniform to reveal he is actually Reimu Hakurei—and proceeds to easily dodge all the chalk thrown at him. Sadly, in the end, it’s revealed to all be a dream as a piece of chalk bonks him on the head, waking him up.

In the commercial’s making-of featurette, Nishikawa shares his thoughts on the costume. “The actual Reimei Hakurei[‘s costume] is also very revealing, so I was conscious of my midsection. Throughout the year, I usually try to keep myself in 70%-80% of the condition I would be in before a bodybuilder’s competition, so this was just a minor adjustment. But on the day of the shoot, I didn’t eat any solid food and reduced the amount of water I consumed [to better show off my muscles].”

However, despite the confidence he showed in his appearance, is slightly worried about how fans will react to his cosplay. “Reimu Hakurei is a character that has been free to use around the Internet and has been loved by many people since the dawn of SNS. So, I apologize to her fans and worry if they will be okay. (laughs)”

So far, the Japanese fan reaction seems to be quite positive, so it looks like he was worried for nothing.

This 1/1 Scale Made in Abyss Figure Will Only Set You Back $3600

Are you such a big Made in Abyss fan that you would sell your first born to have a life-size figure of Nanachi in your room?

Are you such a big Made in Abyss fan that you would sell your first born to have a life-size figure of Nanachi in your room? Then have I got news for you.

From July 22 through October 31, F:NEX is taking pre-orders for their “Nanachi 1/1 Scale Life-Size Figure” (which will begin shipping to buyers in September of 2023). The figure itself stands at 155 cm tall (approx. 5’1”), is made from PVC and FRP, and comes with a metal stand to support it—and all it will cost you is 484,000 yen (approx. US$3,573.92). While that’s one heck of a hefty price tag, there’s no doubt that this figure is wonderfully detailed and expertly colored to the point it looks like it walked right out of the anime. Of course, whether it’s worth the price or not is all up to you (and your pocketbook).

Gundam Fans Notice New Call of Duty Game Logo Looks a Bit Familiar

Animenewsnetwork - Interest

Project Aurora logo bears a striking resemblance to Amuro Ray’s personal emblem

Upcoming Call of Duty battle-royal mobile game, currently going by the codename “Call of Duty: Project Aurora,” has a new logo—and it’s one that may look more than a bit familiar if you’re a Gundam fan.

Posted by Project Aurora news and rumor Twitter feed @PlayWZMobile and subsequently shared on Reddit, fans were quick to notice that the project’s new logo (which is already being used on the Call of Duty official website), looks almost identical to Amuro Ray’s personal emblem as seen on the shoulder of the RX-93 ν Gundam in Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack.

Sure, there are a few differences—namely in color, overall thickness of the logo, and the length of the points—but it’s clear that the two emblems share the same basic design. And while users on Twitter and Reddit are eagerly awaiting some sort of legal action, neither Activision (the owners of Call of Duty) nor Bandai Namco Filmworks (the owners of Gundam) have made any official comment on the matter at time of publication.

As part of Princess Mononoke‘s 25th anniversary, Donguri Republic is selling a collection of magnets based on the characters from the film—that just so happen to look like head mounts on the wall of a hunting cabin.

These include Moro, Moro’s pup, the Forest Spirit, Nago, Yakul, and even San herself. Each sells individually for 1320 yen (approx. $9.68 USD) or in a set for 7,920 yen (approx. $58.10 USD) at either Donguri Republic’s physical stores or their online Donguri-sora shop.

Of course, if that’s too morbid for you, you can pick up this decidedly non-decapitated stuffed Yakul instead.
