Jujutsu Kaisen To Arrive at Universal Studios Japan with Special 4D Episode

Animenewsnetwork - Interest

In the entirely original 20 minute animation Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara have secretly infiltrate a new branch of the Jujutsu High School opening in Osaka

Universal Studios Japan announced Monday that it would be incorporating the Jujutsu Kaisen anime into not one, but two attractions at the theme park this year.

The first is “Jujutsu Kaisen the Real 4-D.” This 4D cinema experience (with all the usual wind in your face, sprays of water, and moving seats) will feature an entirely original animation that is about 20 minutes long. The story is likewise completely new. Here’s the official synopsis:

A new branch of the Jujutsu High School is opening in Osaka, Japan.

As prospective students for this new school, you are invited to the groundbreaking ceremony for the school building.

According to Kuroishi, the man claiming to be the principal of the Osaka branch, this new school will be established to train jujutsu sorcerers in order to save people from the ever-increasing number of curses that have been inflicted upon them in recent years.

There is something fishy going on here…

Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara have secretly infiltrated the ceremony…

But just as the ceremony begins with great pomp and circumstance, a terrible plot is revealed…!

The second Jujutsu Kaisen-themed attraction is a retooling of the roller coaster “Hollywood Dream – The Ride” called “Jujutsu Kaisen X Hollywood Dream – The Ride ~Kaikai Kitan~.” This roller coaster features an inbuilt sound system that allows each individual rider to pick from a selection of songs to ride to. For the Jujutsu Kaisen collaboration, the anime’s theme song, “Kaikai Kitan” by Eve, will be available for your listening enjoyment.

Jujutsu Kaisen the Real 4-D” is scheduled to run from September 16, 2022 to July 2, 2023. “Jujutsu Kaisen X Hollywood Dream – The Ride ~Kaikai Kitan~,” on the other hand, will only run from September 16, 2022, to January 18, 2023.

Animenewsnetwork - Interest

A figure of Ranni the Witch from the worldwide videogame hit Elden Ring has been announced by the fashion brand TORCH TORCH at this past weekend’s Wonder Festival 2022 Summer. The prototype looks striking even in its uncolored state: sitting in her chair with her four arms folded in their customary position, it looks like she was taken right out of the game—especially since the figure also sports her second, spectral face as well.

The figure stands at approximately 29 cm (11.5 in) tall, is made of PVC and ABS, and was sculpted by Masato Ohata (@shiyumaimai on Twitter). It is expected to go on sale worldwide in 2023.

Initial D Taxi Strolls the Streets of Shibukawa City

Animenewsnetwork - Interest

Mercifully, unlike the anime, these taxis will be prioritizing safe driving

As part of its tourism initiatives, Shibukawa City in Gunma Prefecture has sponsored taxis styled after prominent cars from the Initial D anime and manga series. Three cars in total will be ferrying passengers around the city until the end of March next year. Mercifully, unlike the anime, these taxis will be prioritizing safe driving—no wicked stunts or drifting from these professionals.

Besides Takumi Fujiwara’s iconic Toyota AE86, a second car will be styled after Keisuke Takahashi’s Mazda RX-7, and the third shows an illustration of four characters from the series. Passengers who spend over 1,000 yen in their transport fare will get a bonus postcard with an original new illustration.

The city, which is depicted in Initial D as Takumi’s hometown, launched its town revitalization program in 2008 in association with the Shibukawa Ikaho Onsen Tourism Association, the JTB Corporation travel agency, and other organizations. The city installed seven manhole covers featuring Takumi and other characters in front of Shibukawa Station, the Ikaho hot spring resort area, and other locations.

hololive's 1st English-speaking Male VTuber Group Debuts On July 22-23

Animenewsnetwork - Interest

Regis Altar, Magni Dezmond, Axel Syrios, Noir Vesper debut under HOLOSTARS English -TEMPUS-

Cover Corp announced the launch of its first English-speaking male Virtual YouTuber group, titled “HOLOSTARS English -TEMPUS-“. The new talents Regis Altare, Magni Dezmond, Axel Syrios, and Noir Vesper commenced Twitter activities on Monday, and will make their streaming debuts on July 22-23.

They are part of the English-speaking version of hololive’s HOLOSTARS spinoff group, which debuted its first generation talent in June 2019. Cover Corp describes the Adventurer’s Guild TEMPUS as “The most popular pub in the downtown area, which became synonymous with the guild after TEMPUS was formed there and members of the guild began to assemble. The name symbolizes a turning point in the founding members’ lives, as they look to resist the status quo and seek to change the world as adventurers.”

In anticipation of the debut, HOLOSTARS English has released a story-based promotional video on its YouTube channel:

Further details about each talent is below:

Regis Altare is designed by Uta no Prince Sama and Fire Emblem: Three Houses character designer Chinatsu Kurahana. He is “the founder of Adventurer’s Guild TEMPUS. The first-ever adventurer to set foot in Elysium, he dislikes stagnation and the status quo. He is childish at heart and generally bungles everything he touches, and yet he is inexplicably popular among his peers. His earnest straightforwardness may well lead to him being called a ‘hero’ one day.”

Magni Dezmond is designed by Merchant From Babelheim manga artist Showichi Furumi. He is “Adventurer’s Guild TEMPUS’s publicist. He proclaims himself to be an alchemist, but nobody has ever seen him in action. Muddling the waters even further are his business ventures which take him all around Elysium. Nobody knows what his actual profession is. What does his ‘alchemy’ even consist of… making potions? The type of person who stares right into the abyss. Rumors say he will do anything it takes to uncover the truth behind the world, and that he’s hiding a dark side to him.”

Axel Syrios is designed by Fate/Grand Order character designer Ginka. He is “the chief of human resources in Adventurer’s Guild TEMPUS. He is the owner of the combat arena, and a gladiator himself. He joined Tempus on a whim, only to take a real liking to it. Has always swiftly resolved any problems he has faced by sheer instinct, and thus considers himself somewhat of a doctor.”

Noir Vesper is designed by Paradox Live The Animation character designer Kuniharu Komiya. He is “Adventurer’s Guild TEMPUS’s academic advisor. He also holds the posts of custodian and arch-scholar at the Grand Library. Logical and rational at all times, he doesn’t lift a finger unless completely convinced by something. He has an aversion to sunlight due to spending too long cooped up, absorbed in his research.”

The four members will hold a collaboration stream on July 23 at 8:00pm PST.

The first generation of hololive performers debuted in 2018. hololive English announced its first group of talents, “Myth”, in September 2020; the second group, “Council”, debuted in August 2021.

…and costs US$1,206

Fullmetal Alchemist deuteragonist Alphonse Elric is iconic for appearing as a walking suit of heavy armor. The Castem metalwork maker has created a commercial replica of the helmet, which weighs a whopping 11 kilograms.

You can purchase the helmet internationally through Castem’s Ebay store page. It costs US$1,206.43, so it’s not within every fan’s grasp. It is a made-to-order product, and will take approximately three months to ship.

For those in Japan interested in simply seeing it in the flesh (er, metal), it will be on exhibit at the meta mate Spectrum Nihonbashi store inside the second floor of the COREDO Muromachi Terrace shopping complex.

Veteran Voice Actor Kikuko Inoue Writes 1st Memoir Essay About Being Forever 17

Animenewsnetwork - Interest

Book ships one day before Inoue’s 58th birthday

Veteran voice actress Kikuko Inoue (Fairy Tail‘s Minerva, Ah! My Goddess‘ Belldandy) will publish her first essay on September 24, one day before her 58th birthday. Its title: Inoue Kikuko 17-sai Desu “Oi oi!” (“Hi, I’m Kikuko Inoue, and I am 17 years old. ‘Oi oi!'”)

The essay will recount stories from Inoue’s childhood, her approach to voice acting, and how she looks and lives youthfully. The published book will include photos of Inoue in cosplay, as well as fond anecdotes from fellow voice actors Noriko Hidaka, Atsuko Tanaka, Rica Matsumoto, Aya Hisakawa, Nana Mizuki, Mai Nakahara, Rie Tanaka, and Maria Yamamoto. It will also include a joint interview with Inoue’s daughter Honoka, who is herself an active voice actress.

Pre-orders for the book opened on July 17, which is considered “17-years-old day” in Japan.

Inoue is currently 57 years old, but has established a reputation for claiming to be eternally 17. It’s gotten to the point that she is considered the founder of her own religion, 17-saikyou (“age 17ism”), with fellow voice actresses Yukari Tamura, Sakura Nogawa, Rina Satou and Yui Horie as followers. It is also customary to respond to her claims with “Oi, oi!”, a Japanese way of showing skepticism.

In 2016, Kikuko and Honoka teamed up to pose as high school students for promotional pictures, and in 2017, they starred as a mother-and-daughter duo in Pokémon Generations episode 18.
