Competitive salary plus benefits

Norwich University of the Arts is one of the great British art schools: a specialist creative arts university that draws on 175 years of history, with our focus on the future and the role of creativity in addressing global challenges and opportunities. We celebrate diversity and believe it to be at the core of any creative endeavour. We want students to bring their whole self to work each day, in an environment that recognises the contribution their unique identity and prior experiences make to our community.

As part of our strategic portfolio expansion, we are now seeking to appoint an inspirational and experienced academic as the Course Leader for our new awards in BSc (Hons) Creative Computing, which will welcome its first cohort of students in September 2022, and BSc (Hons) Creative Technology, which will launch in 2023. The role will also oversee our new Diploma in Creative Computing, offered as a sandwich year for current students.

We are seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic academic leader with the vision, insight, commitment, and skills to further develop, deliver and promote these awards. The Course Leader will have a background in computer science or a related area, strong industry experience and be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of creativity through personal creative practice and / or a research profile. Candidates will be able to develop and deliver innovative learning and teaching strategies including digital materials and hybrid learning to promote an inclusive learning environment. You will have the ability to work closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, bringing diverse voices into our student experience, ensuring the support we give our students is culturally competent.

As Course Leader you will possess a broad knowledge of computer science and its applications for creative output together with an understanding of the future professional needs of graduates. You will bring a network of diverse and strong professional relationships and be able to apply your knowledge and experience of professional requirements to a curriculum that is clearly focused on preparing students for their long-term careers. You will have the ambition to equip students with the social and cultural capital that will allow them to confidently grasp graduate-level opportunities and challenges.

The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent skills in organisation, management, team building and evidence of enhancing student educational experience and outcomes. A collaborative and collegiate approach to leadership and teamworking is an essential attribute for this role, which will require working closely with colleagues from other courses and departments.
