The University of Cambridge is seeking an experienced Information and Systems Analyst and Manager to provide specialist technical and data management support to underpin the work of the Postgraduate Admissions Office (PAO). The Postgraduate Admissions Office is responsible for the admission of students to doctoral and non-doctoral postgraduate courses at the University of Cambridge. The office currently receives in excess of 24,000 applications annually from UK and International students for more than 300 different courses.

This post is a senior member of the PAO and is responsible for the work of the Information and Systems team. You will line manage four staff to provide and analyse postgraduate admissions data, and, in liaison with the Universities IT department, ensure the continuous improvement and smooth running of the Postgraduate Admissions IT systems. The role holder works closely with the Deputy Head of Postgraduate Admissions to support the management of the day to day operations of the office. 

You will ensure the extraction, preparation and critical analysis of admissions data and statistics (eg for management information, strategic planning, committees, FOI requests, and to support the day to day operational activities of PAO). The successful candidate will apply her/his data information skills to develop and improve the reporting of admissions data, and to provide visualisation of postgraduate admissions data for internal and external use (eg via Tableau or similar software), and to ensure data quality.

The role holder is also responsible for representing the systems requirements that support Postgraduate Admissions to the University IT department, and for seeing through change requests to ensure on-time delivery. They will analyse and trouble-shoot any problems with these systems and escalate them to the IT department for resolution if necessary. They will use their business and systems analyst skills and experience to lead production of the business case for any development, and ensure these systems are supporting the business processes effectively and efficiently.

A key part of this role is to ensure the smooth functioning of the College allocator, which distributes postgraduate applications to the colleges.

*The full incremental salary range for this position is advertised in order to demonstrate the progression of the Grade each year. Appointments are normally made at the bottom of the Grade. This role also includes contribution increments. These are awarded via the Contribution Increments Scheme in recognition of outstanding and sustained performance of post holder.
