Job Summary
Reporting to the Provost, this position performs administrative duties in support
of the Naval Science Department/NROTC. It requires excellent communication skills, a thorough knowledge of policies/procedures, office
management proficiency and working a knowledge of budgets.
NOTE: In compliance with federal law, all persons
hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required eligibility verification
form upon hire. This position does not offer sponsorship for employment visas.
Responsibilities
- Support the NROTC and
department staff by performing receptionist duties including greeting visitors, answering inquiries, screening and routing phone calls and
visitors. - Schedule appointments and maintain calendar of events for Commanding Officer/Executive Officer and
supervisor. - Manage incoming and outgoing mail.
- Maintain command directives (filing, typing, changes/updates, copying and
distributing). - Assist with all aspects of the NROTC daily operations.
- Maintain an electronic NROTC Alumni contact
directory and database. - Manage the office filing and supply inventory.
- Handle the requisition of new materials and
equipment; maintain and monitor inventory and restock as necessary. - Assist with all commissioning and awards ceremonies and any
others celebratory functions. - Supervise departmental student employees.
- Maintain course schedules and enter data using
Banner system. - Maintain NROTC manuals (administrative, correspondence, SSIC, etc).
- Manage departmental
budget.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree
- 2-3 years of experience in an office/clerical
position - Proficiency in computer software/applications such as Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint
- Proficiency with
office equipment (e.g. copier, multi-line telephones, fax, and scanner) - Working knowledge of Standard Subject Identification Code
(SSIC) and serialization for directives
Preferred Qualifications
Prior military background is a
plus.
Proposed Salary
The proposed salary range is $16.00 – $17.50 per hour.

Abilities
- Knowledge of basic math and financial processes (tracking and reconciling office budget), office practices, procedures
systems and equipment - Knowledge of computer system such as email and internet
- Skills in communication (written and
oral) - Skills in office management
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and discretion od sensitive information (e.g.
cadet information) - Ability to manage and prioritize a diverse workload; handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to
learn university programs (e.g. Banner, PeopleSoft, Paws, etc).
