Departmental Objective


In support of Christopher Newport University’s mission, the mission of CNU Dining Services is to provide CNU students with the highest quality in food and dining experiences. Purpose of the Position


In conjunction with the Dining Operations Manager, the incumbent is responsible for residential dining in the Commons. Incumbent will assist in the responsibility for reviewing, monitoring, interpreting, analyzing, evaluating, and comparing data to: to improve and control food costs; lower labor costs; identify and respond to customer trends and design effective marketing for the operation. Incumbent will assist the Dining Operations Manager with monthly inventory, process various reports including news letters, handle all correspondence and aid the Food Operations Manager in the completion of their administrative duties. Process invoices and deposits in a timely manner. Responsible for submitting accurate payroll reports on all students, hourly and classified personnel. Responsible for the duties associated with the Black Board System.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position


  • Knowledge of purchasing, scheduling, Human Resource management, health codes, OSHA, inventory management and understanding of high volume food production.
  • Knowledge and skills in food preparation and quantity food production.
  • Ability to communicate in writing or verbally to both supervisors and subordinates.
  • Ability to adjust to a cyclic environment.

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required


Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma


Experience:

  • Previous experience in food service
  • Supervisory experience

Additional Consideration(s)



Education:

  • ServSafe certified or equivalent food handler program


Experience

  • Previous supervisory experience in a high volume kitchen in an educational or institutional setting
  • Experience with word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Management experience in a high volume production kitchen
  • Office experience handling numeric data and using office equipment such as calculators, computers, copiers, and fax machines.

Salary Information
Starting at $50,258 Commensurate with Education and Experience
