Description:

The Center for the Study of Antisemitism at NYU is seeking a full-time Associate Research Scholar
to assist with our arts and antisemitism research project. The position will work alongside the Low Professor for Community Engaged
Scholarship to research and collect data on contemporary antisemitism and its effects on the arts and culture field. They will also research
methods for the development of a Collective Impact (CI) strategy to enable people to work together across sectors to counter antisemitism in
a range of arts spaces, including museums, festivals, galleries and theaters.



The Associate Research Scholar will also translate
this research on contemporary antisemitism to produce artistic materials, accessible to youth audiences, to convey the nature and harmful
effects of antisemitism. This may take the form of a YA novel, graphic novel, or animation.

This role is responsible
for:


  1. Conducting policy research and policy analysis projects at the examining online safety and online expression within the arts and
    culture field
  2. Research foundational materials to develop a collective impact program logic model to address antisemitism in the arts
    and culture field
  3. Engage regularly with artists, arts funders, and policymakers to conduct qualitative and quantitative research,
    including literature reviews, landscape/policy scans, benchmarking, stakeholder surveys and interviews
  4. Identify case studies,
    precedents, and emerging trends in how antisemitism may have affected cultural policy, public art, and museum practice, and
    funding

IThis is a fixed-term position with an end date of 08/31/2026. This is a full time, hybrid position with a shared office
space. This research project and associated researchers are supervised by Yehuda Sarna, the Low Professor for Community Engaged
Scholarship.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $65,000 to
$75,000.



Qualifications:

Required education: Master’s degree in arts, cultural
studies, public policy, communication, political science, or related field.


Preferred education: PhD in arts, cultural studies,
public policy, communication, political science, or related field.

Required knowledge, skills and experience:


  • 5+ years
    of previous work experience in the arts and culture field
  • Experience with qualitative research methods
  • Deep understanding of
    current topics and debates in arts and antisemitism policy
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
  • Ability
    to organize and oversee complex projects with multiple moving parts
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and communication
    skills

Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Professional membership in arts association
    preferred
