ATHLETIC
TRAINER
, Department of Athletics, Physical Education, and Recreation (DAPER), through the Kasser Sports Medicine Center,
serving a diverse community that includes 29 NCAA Division III varsity teams, four Division I rowing teams, and participants in PE, club
sports, intramurals, and recreation programs. Will provide comprehensive athletic training services in the prevention, evaluation,
treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries, while promoting health education and safe participation in athletic activities; deliver clinical
care, event coverage, and administrative support, while mentoring athletic training students; deliver injury prevention, recognition,
treatment, and rehabilitation services; communicate effectively with student-athletes, coaches, and medical professionals regarding health
status and participation readiness; document confidential medical records accurately and referring cases beyond scope of practice as
appropriate; serve as a preceptor to athletic training students, providing guidance, education, and evaluation; educate students on
insurance procedures and coordinating medical clearance processes; ensure compliance with CPR/AED, First Aid, and concussion protocols;
manage equipment, supplies, and procurement processes; acting as Drug Testing Coordinator and supporting related policies; collect and
analyze injury data to guide prevention strategies; and represent DAPER on campus committees and participating in professional development.
Will play a vital role in supporting MIT’s student-athletes by ensuring safe participation, providing high-quality medical care, and
contributing to the overall mission of DAPER.

Job Requirements


REQUIRED: Master’s degree; BOC
Certification and eligibility for Massachusetts licensure; experience with high-risk sports and clinical education; Valid driver’s license;
CPR/AED and First Aid instructor certification (must be maintained); ability to use medical and therapeutic equipment (e.g., AED,
stethoscope, goniometer, therapeutic modalities); proficiency in documentation, assessment, and emergency response; and familiarity with
software: SportsWare, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Google Calendar, FileMaker Pro. PREFERRED: Master of Science.



Working
Conditions & Physical Requirements: Must possess gross and fine motor coordination, manual dexterity, and physical strength to move up to 50
lbs. Capable of responding promptly to emergencies and performing tasks such as CPR, aquatic therapy, and wound care. Ability to work in
varied environmental conditions and maintain focus during frequent interruptions. Exposure to bodily fluids, chemicals, and physical injury
risks is expected.
