Position Information


The Auxiliary Services Buyer 2 reports to the Procurement Good
Supervisor and is part of a larger team within Central Procurement. The primary focus of this position is on Auxiliary Services and
encompasses all commodities that apply to that business unit. This position involves the application of professional purchasing skills and
concepts to manage assignments of moderate complexity that require the analysis of multiple procurement options. The Buyer is granted the
authority to make purchases within a moderate and pre-approved dollar limit, exercising judgment within defined practices to determine the
most effective methodology for acquiring common goods and services. This role focuses on problems of moderate scope where data analysis
requires a review of a variety of factors. Under supervision, the incumbent ensures that all duties are performed in a cost-effective,
ethical, and customer-service-oriented manner. The position is specifically responsible for the purchase of common goods and services valued
at $50,000 or less, while assisting with orders exceeding that amount under specific direction. These purchases encompass a broad spectrum
of materials, supplies, equipment, and services. The full salary range for the Auxiliary Services Buyer 2 is $57,700 – $99,300 annually.
However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $78,500 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as
education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work
authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for
staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining
agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or
    equivalent experience/training.


Experience

  • 2 – 4 years of related experience.

knowledge of the organization’s departments and operations required in order to meet their procurement needs. Ability to communicate
effectively in writing and verbally. Working level of proficiency in the use of standard spreadsheet and word processing software. Ability
to read and interpret terms and conditions of basic contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafts and executes purchase orders, utilizing standard terms and conditions
    for materials, supplies, equipment, and services. Drafts Request for Quotations (RFQs) including specifications and terms and
    conditions.
  • Specifically responsible for the purchase of common goods and services valued at $50,000 or less, while assisting with
    orders exceeding that amount under specific direction.

  • 50%

  • Regularly communicates with organization’s customers, reduces risk to the
    University by ensuring departmental compliance with procurement policy, and works in conjunction with end-users to develop specifications
    for RFQs.
  • This position will support Auxiliary Services and encompasses all commodities that apply to that business
    unit.

  • 10%

  • Develops spreadsheets and other documentation to support analysis.

  • 10%

  • Negotiates with suppliers for lower prices
    and better terms and helps resolve supplier performance issues.

  • Interprets and applies basic University policies and
