Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Baker A for Dining Services.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Takes a leading role in the overall operation of the Bake Shop.
• Guides and instructs a group of lower grade bakers and kitchen helpers in a variety of baking operations to comply with standardized recipes, prescribe procedures, master menus, and production schedules.
• Prepares bakery good and pastry for catered affairs or special events.
• Performs all of the duties of the group.

Minimum Education and Experience

• High school/vocational school education or equivalent plus three years of baking experience in large volume institutional or restaurant setting.

Certifications/Licenses

• Ability to pass the Food Handler’s Certification.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to read and follow standardized recipes and production worksheets in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of fancy pastries, decorating cakes, writing recipes and mixing dough’s in large quantities.
• Bagel experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Special Conditions

• Shift/Hours: 7:30pm – 4:00am.
