Job Summary
The Basic Needs Coordinator fulfills a critical role in the Office of the Dean of Students by managing the overall operations and functions of Paws’ Pantry and promoting basic needs services provided to graduate, undergraduate, and professional students and faculty/staff.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Provides day-to-day management of Paws’ Pantry operations.
- Oversees all aspects of food and resource procurement, inventory control, and distribution to ensure the highest quality service for over 1,200 clients per month.
- Trains and manages student staff and volunteers to ensure operations run smoothly and client needs are met.
- Manages Paws’ Pantry facilities; maintains a clean and well-ordered pantry and storage space.
- Responsible for all administrative duties including, but not limited to, fielding phone calls, emails, and setting up appointments.
- Develops partnerships and programs to support students facing basic needs issues, including Hunger and Homelessness Awareness activities and community resource and involvement fairs.
General Responsibilities
- Provides experienced assistance with project management activities, resource allocation, and communication.
- Develops a schedule designed to meet necessary deadlines and communicates with team members.
- Monitors project progress and handles highly complex issues that arise.
- Ensures projects adhere to frameworks and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project.
- Allocates tasks and assignments to lower-level appointed staff and monitors their performance.
- Performs a variety of administrative skills and prepares correspondence related to the project.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
EDUCATION
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as social work, public health, nonprofit management, or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- 4 years of relevant experience
Preferred
- Experience coordinating and managing volunteers, or community outreach programs
- Experience with food safety regulations, inventory systems, and case management practices is also beneficial
- Experience working with students in a higher education environment
- Experience with outreach support for students

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$40,000 – $42,848 annually
