UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS FOUNDATION has an immediate opening for an Coordinator, Communications
The University of Illinois Foundation (Foundation) is the official fundraising and private gift-receiving organization of the University
of Illinois (University). It works closely with alumni and friends, faculty and staff, corporations and foundations, as well as campus
development professionals to create fundraising programs and opportunities that benefit the University.
Under the direction of the
AVP of Marketing and Communications, the Coordinator, Communications develops and writes compelling content that showcases the impact of and
the gratitude for philanthropic gifts. This role produces high-quality, on-brand messaging—including feature stories, video scripts,
invitations, online content, remarks, letters, and more—for digital and print platforms in a fast-paced environment while meeting
deadlines and maintaining attention to detail. The position also provides writing support to the Office of the Foundation President/CEO.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops, writes, edits, and proofreads content for diverse communications
materials including websites, newsletters, print collateral, remarks, letters, and feature stories that highlight the Foundation’s work in
support of the University of Illinois System. - Drafts correspondence, presentations, and remarks for the UIF President/CEO and other
Foundation leadership. Coordinates with the President’s Executive Assistant on executive communications. - Works directly with UIF
departments—including HR, Development, Gift Planning, Engagement, and the President’s Office—to fulfill project
requirements. - Manages multiple projects simultaneously with varying complexity and audience scope, consistently meeting deadlines
and quality expectations. - Creates and updates donor acknowledgement and stewardship materials, including letters and personalized
communications. Maintains documentation of departmental and Foundation standards for internal and external communications. Manages
organizational stationery inventory. - Provides project support to the Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Communications,
including reports and presentations. Collaborates with the marketing and communications team on strategic and creative planning to meet
production needs.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in
journalism, communications, English, public relations or related field and three years of professional writing and editing experience in
communications or marketing. - Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong command of grammar and
communications principles. - Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining
attention to detail. - Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Excellent judgement,
initiative, and reliability with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. - Creative and strategic thinking
skills with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities. - Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Knowledge of
higher-education advancement and fundraising is preferred.

The
starting salary range for this position is projected to be $52,000 – $57,000 per year. While our job postings include salary ranges, your
compensation will be based on your specific experience and qualifications—we’re not limited by these posted ranges.
