Job Description:


SUNY Broome Community College is seeking a full-time, temporary Coordinator for Workforce Programs to support the Entrepreneurial Assistance Center (EAC). Reporting to the Director, this grant-funded position is anticipated to continue through August 31, 2026 (with the possibility of extension based on funding).

This position follows a standard Monday-Friday schedule, with occasional evening and weekend hours as needed.


About the Entrepreneurial Assistance Center (EAC):

SUNY Broome is proud to host one of 24 Entrepreneurial Assistance Centers in New York State. The EAC provides one-on-one support for small businesses, educational sessions on essential business management, and opportunities for networking and community connections. We assist entrepreneurs with business model development, startup planning, including our signature Startup to Growth Bootcamp, and offer individual consulting and coaching from experienced entrepreneurs, business leaders, and industry experts.



The SUNY Broome EAC is funded through a grant from Empire State Development in partnership with the City of Binghamton’s Local Development Corporation. Our office is located at the Koffman Southern Tier Incubator, 120 Hawley Street, Binghamton, NY 13901.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Direct and manage the Entrepreneurial Assistance Center (EAC) grant program(s) under the guidance of the Director of Education, Training and Workforce Development with support from the Binghamton Local Development Corporation (BLDC).
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to acquire and support EAC clients.
  • Recruit, assess, and mentor participants, building strong relationships and providing guidance on program engagement and available resources.
  • Provide strategic advising on client progress and navigation of community, state, and financial resources.
  • Design and oversee trainings for small businesses, including the delivery of the 60-hour entrepreneurial training curriculum (including syllabus development, instructor coordination, classroom logistics, and guest speaker scheduling).
  • Manage the annual business plan competition, including judge coordination, event logistics, and awards programming.
  • Oversee and coordinate all consultants and contracted service providers affiliated with EAC grant initiatives.
  • Establish scopes of work, monitor progress, ensure deliverables are met, and evaluate performance to ensure alignment with program goals and grant requirements.
  • Maintain and analyze program data using the EAC’s online database.
  • Prepare and submit accurate, detailed progress and outcome reports to SUNY Broome and funders.
  • Promote visibility and regional impact by engaging in events, trade shows, and presentations, and by actively participating in relevant business and entrepreneurship networks.
  • Attend trainings, webinars, and conferences to remain informed of updates and best practices, and integrate relevant insights into local program operations.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong ability to work independently and communicate effectively with a diverse range of college employees, students, clients, and external partners.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with data entry and database or data management systems.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience with program marketing and outreach.


Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Three (3) years of full-time work experience in program development for continuing education, workforce, grant programs, and/or grant program management is required.
  • Experience in an educational setting is desired.
  • One (1) year of leadership or supervisory experience is required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Preference given to those with experience in Small Businesses, Entrepreneurship or Program Development.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.

Additional Information:

The minimum salary for this position is $62,147. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
