Description

Under limited supervision, the Correctional Education Coordinator at
Clarinda Correctional Facility (CCF), is responsible for supervising the Corrections Education instructors, developing, implementing,
recording, and coordinating all educational activities within the facility as required by the Iowa Department of Corrections and Iowa
Western Community College. Duties will also include teaching incarcerated individuals, development of curriculum, methods of instruction,
assessment, and maintenance of records.


Job Duties

  • Provide leadership and coordination of
    CCF educational services, supervising offender education programs including ABE, HISET, ESL, and vocational training.
  • Represent the
    IWCC education program in collaboration with CCF leadership, the Director of Community Education, and the Iowa Department of
    Corrections.
  • Manage student enrollment, orientation, assessment, placement, testing, and advising related to educational
    opportunities and program requirements.
  • Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate instructional staff and offender education
    aides.
  • Oversee daily program operations, including academic schedules, instructor assignments, materials, space, and staffing
    needs.
  • Maintain accurate student records, attendance, contact hours, and required documentation.
  • Prepare and submit required
    monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to IWCC, CCF, and DOC.
  • Ensure compliance with custody, security, HR, budget, reporting, and
    accreditation standards, including coordination with DOC and CEA monitoring processes.
  • Coordinate communication and collaboration
    among IWCC, CCF, DOC, and support services to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Participate in meetings, required trainings,
    professional development, instructional duties, and other duties as assigned while demonstrating IWCC’s mission, vision, and
    values.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, successful teaching experience is required. In
    addition, candidates must pass CCF security clearance and be able to graduate from the Iowa Department of Corrections Training
    Academy.
  • A current Iowa standard teaching license is preferred but not required.

  • Candidates with prior
    corrections, adult education, or at-risk teaching experience are preferred.
  • Candidates with project management and/or supervisory
    experience are preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate in both small and large group
    settings and with diverse groups of people including co-workers, students, business contacts and at various levels from front-line to
    administration
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, to meet deadlines, to maintain and access paper and
    electronic files, to produce error-free final products, and to manage time and output
  • Excellent customer service skills required
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
    fluently
  • Enthusiastic and dedicated to the challenges of helping other people
  • Ability to function collaboratively as part of
    a fast-paced, customer oriented team
  • Professional in communications, appearance, relationships, and responsiveness
