Custodian – Part Time

Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the Custodian performs routine cleaning and upkeep of assigned
buildings and grounds.

Compensation:
This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $15.50 per
hour.

Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Mop, sweep and scrub floors and other
surfaces.

2. Clean, renovate and renew floor surface finishes.

3. Clean and dust furniture, exhibit
cases, fixtures, windows, doors, trims and related furnishings.

4. Wash and/or clean windows and glass
doors.

5. Move furniture, supplies and miscellaneous equipment as directed.

6. Sweep, shovel and
remove snow from steps, walks and walkways and all areas of buildings as required.

7. Collect and bale waste paper for
the purpose of recycling.

8. Lock and unlock doors to classrooms, lecture rooms and offices, only for cleaning, setting
up or organizing these facilities.

9. Clean and service lavatories, toilet rooms, rest rooms smoking urns and
ashtrays.

10. Collect and containerize all debris throughout all the college’s buildings for removal by sanitation
trucks.

11. Clean and wax furniture.

12. Wash all interior glass, including but not limited to,
partitions, picture frames, doors and other glass as directed.

13. Report to supervisor, any items requiring repair,
maintenance or are a safety issue.

14. Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum
Experience:
1. Ability to read general operating instructions and to write simple reports.

2. Ability
to routinely lift, push or pull up to 70 pounds.

3. Demonstrated ability to climb ladders and
scaffolds.

4. Ability to pass physical examination requirements as established by College Health
Services.

5. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

6. Ability to work in a
multi-cultural environment.

Minimum Education Requirements: High School Diploma

Preferred
Experience:
1. High School degree.

2. Some experience in janitorial/custodial work in an institution
or industry.
