UC San Diego’s Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP)
proudly serves low income and first generation students in San Diego and Imperial Counties, providing a variety of college-going services to
increase the postsecondary enrollment of students in our region. EAOP is a UC systemwide program and UC San Diego’s EAOP continues to serve
as a strong regional collaborative partner in promoting college pathways, career exploration and innovative educational opportunities for
young people. EAOP provides in-depth college activities, assistance with college application completion, assistance with financial aid
completion, college match, college search and degree exploration activities with a long history of impacting regional students’ completion
of rigorous coursework (A-G), college enrollment and college completion. EAOP is housed in the Division of Social Sciences and is
administered by the Center for Research on Education, Assessment, and Teaching Excellence (CREATE), which is an energetic education research
and partnership center that promotes K-20 education both locally and nationally. CREATE conducts and supports education-related research and
evaluation, and also manages college preparation and success programs, school improvement efforts, and educator professional development.
EAOP works across multiple units at UC San Diego (ex. K20, Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Transfer Prep, Student Initiated
Programs) as well as sustains UC Systemwide partnerships as one of the largest and critical university outreach entities funded through the
Student Academic Preparation and Educational Partnerships (SAPEP) within UCOP.


DESCRIPTION

  • Works on data /
    information management problems of moderate scope and complexity where analyses of situations or data require a review of a variety of
    factors.
  • Develops and creates databases for EAOP staff to collect specified data from students in the 25 target schools and builds
    database for users at large scale events with over 1,000 participants.
  • The Data Analyst creates user-friendly and safe technology
    interfaces for students which automates data collection at school sites and large-scale events.
  • Exercises judgment within defined
    guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Experience working in a school setting or with minors in academic
    preparation programs provides unique insight into the needs of the software users and working with both school-district guidelines and
    university policies.
  • Produces annual reports, develops dashboards, and ensures data accuracy by checking data schemas. Given the
    specific student objectives which are collected and measured biannually, the incumbent must apply information management concepts to resolve
    a variety of data and information management issues.
  • Researches data trends and act as the liaison for routine data capturing needs,
    working with partners and system users. Provides data to the EAOP Director and Assoc.
  • Director for annual and bi-annual submission
    to UCOP and for strategic planning purposes. Independently develops, sustains and improves upon data collection, entry and analysis for the
    CREATE
  • Project/Research Teams.
  • Collaborates with teams using tools like Lacai, Tableau, MyEmma, Canva, and Python to
    interpret and report data.
  • Responsible for training users on data platforms, ensuring standard practices are followed, and resolving
    routine issues.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of data management systems, practices and
    standards.
  • Knowledge relating to logical data design, data warehouse design, data integration or the management of web content or
    other unstructured data.
  • Ability to prepare simple data models under guidance of more senior professionals.
  • Familiarity with
    important types of data models such as logical / relational models, dimensional models and document Models. Intermediate knowledge of
    relevant rules and regulations.
  • Ability to read, interpret and implement policy.Demonstrated ability to work with others from
    diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with youth, teachers, school administration and other school and district
    personnel.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical
    information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
  • Self-motivated and works independently
    and as part of a team. Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated service
    orientation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.Strong analytical and design skills, including the ability to abstract information
    requirements from real-world processes to understand information flows in computer systems. Knowledge of Excel, Lacai, Tableau, MyEmma,
    Canva, and Python.
  • Ability to represent relevant information in abstract models. Critical thinking skills and attention to
    detail.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS


  • Must pass a background check at the university and as needed the school
    districts served.
  • As a California Mandated Reporter, must take training and sign the CANRA Form.

Pay Transparency
Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $71,600 – $127,400 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)



Hourly
Equivalent: $34.29 – $61.02

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge,
abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job
posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range
may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining
agreements (when applicable).
