The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is Rutgers’ enterprise IT office. OIT provides university wide services and support and collaborates with department and unit IT professionals on projects and initiatives for the Rutgers community. OIT’s services and systems include the Rutgers network; email and calendaring systems; IDs/passwords and identity management; data centers; computer labs; help desk support; wireless connectivity; a software portal; information security, risk, and compliance services; research computing; and many others. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Department Administrator for the Information Security Office within the Office of Information Technology.


Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Serves as the lead administrative coordinator of the Department.
  • Provides administrative leadership and support for the Deputy CIO, Information Security Office, Health Sciences IT, and IT Communications Group for accounting and budgeting, purchasing, personnel, facilities, student support, events, and all administrative, operational, and financial functions.
  • Ensures an inviting, professional and responsive atmosphere for students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.

Work Arrangement


Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.



The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Minimum Education and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, work organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping, and/or report writing principles and practices.
  • Two years of relevant experience in an administrative function.

Certifications/Licenses

  • A valid driver’s license would be required for this position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Good communication skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to handle interruptions and quickly reestablish focus on the multiple tasks at hand on a continual basis.
  • Ability to skillfully and professionally handle multiple shifting priorities.
  • Ability to successfully interact with a wide variety of individuals and stakeholders at all levels of the University community.
  • Comfortability with handling confidential or sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Higher Education Administration.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience monitoring and reporting on multiple complex budgets.
  • Experience in the management and maintenance of management dashboards.
  • Experience in data analytics.

Equipment Utilized


  • MS Office Suite, Cornerstone, Discoverer/Tableau, ROCS, RAPSS, Researcher’s Dashboard, HCM, ECRT, appointment system.
  • Ability to learn any and all systems Rutgers University (RU) uses for academic and student support, grants management and accounting, travel and expense reimbursement, parking, telephones, payroll, recruitment, personnel and performance management, absence reporting, course scheduling, facilities and space management and web and social media.
  • All the equipment, software, and specialized materials needed to support the effective and efficient performance of this position.
