General Description
This position is an integral part of our dining operations staff. Led by experienced culinary professionals, we offer staff the opportunity to work in a facility that is committed to using quality ingredients and processes. This position plays an integral role in accomplishing this goal by assisting in the preparation and service of food in the cafe and coffee shop. This position also assists in maintaining a friendly and orderly environment by greeting customers as they enter, and assisting with questions, service needs, and cashiering. Position may also assist with catered events.

Minimum Education/Experience
Six (6) months of work experience in a restaurant and/or coffee shop in a commercial setting.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Medium work: This position requires the person to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force and frequently exert up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently move about the various Dining Services facilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with students, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.
This position requires the person to frequently operate a computer, other office machinery, and other machinery/devices associated with the Dining Services department to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to operate equipment that frequently involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.
This position requires the person to occasionally position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to move, lift, push, pull, work on, or operate and/or inspect equipment.
3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position’s essential functions are performed in an indoor dining facility.
The noise level in the work environment is frequently at an elevated volume.
Preferred Qualifications
Food Service Sanitation Certificate
Experience working in a fast-paced commercial kitchen or coffee shop
Previous cashiering experience
Work Hours: The regular hours for this temporary position may be a set or variable schedule based on business needs. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.

Job Duties (Position Specific)

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)
Assist in the daily operations of the cafe and coffee shop could include any or all of the following:
- daily opening and/or closing procedures
- preparation and presentation of food
- stocking cafe and coffee shop items
- serving customers by taking and filling orders
- cashiering
- cleaning and sanitization of work areas.
Position will be cross trained for both cafe and coffee shop operations
Use the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as cutting gloves, to clean all knives and equipment blades in the area.
Follows proper food preparation and sanitation directives as established by the Health Department. Comply with internal policies and procedures as they apply to food, sanitation, and safety within the Dining Services department. This includes, but is not limited to, keeping work area clean, properly/safely using equipment and keeping floor free of food/liquid that may be a potential safety hazard, adhering to agreed work schedule.
Other duties as assigned.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.
Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.
Complete quarterly health and safety training are pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.
Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
