District Director-Academic Process

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE


Reporting to the Executive Dir-Academic Affairs, the District Director-Academic Process manages and oversees academic
processes, implementing and facilitating academic and faculty-focused procedures to ensure that appropriate controls and uniform standards
are in place to provide consistency in the district-level review and approval of faculty personnel actions and other faculty-facing academic
matters.

The District Director-Academic Process also manages and supports special projects and events such as
faculty development week, recognition celebrations, and other events related to academic leaders. May provide project management support for
new district level initiatives as they emerge. Performs related duties as required.



ESSENTIAL
DUTIES

Academic Process


* Works closely with the AVC-Academic Systems Records and
Policy to create and update district-wide academic process manuals and direction documents that provide district managers, college
administrators, and other key stakeholders guidance on processes governing faculty and academic affairs as stipulated in CCC’s Academic &
Student Policy Manual.

* Works collaboratively with academic systems administrators and staff in the ongoing review of the Academic
and Student Policy Manual.


* Provides administrative oversight of academic workflow and processes district-wide to ensure faculty
personnel actions and faculty-facing academic matters comply with the CCC’s Academic & Student Policy rules and policies.

* Prepares
and reviews board reports and contracts as assigned by the Academic Affairs team.


* Streamlines and automates the management and
operations of various academic process and procedures in collaboration with key stakeholders and utilizing technological resources.

*
Oversees the operations of CCC’s online bookstore, working with faculty and vendor to ensure the timely and efficient selection of course
materials and the availability of textbooks and materials for purchase by students.


* Creates calendar and establishes maximum
available slots for sabbaticals. Confirms qualifications and ensures appropriate documentation and compliance regarding sabbaticals and
reinstatement.

* Reviews and verifies the completeness and accuracy of submitted documentation requesting approval of faculty
personnel actions, including lane advancements, sabbaticals, promotions in rank, and other faculty transactions.


Liaison
for College Academic Leaders and Faculty

* Works collaboratively with academic stakeholders to review faculty credential
guidelines and minimum requirements to teach an academic discipline to ensure that Higher Learning Commission (HLC) standards are
maintained. Maintains and updates CCC credential guidelines.



* Conducts audits of faculty files for adherence to CCC’s credential
policies and procedures.

* Participates in preparing college administrators for HLC accreditation site visits.


* Organizes and
facilitates monthly district-wide meetings with key administrators and academic stakeholders. Prepares agenda, leads discussion topics, and
assigns follow-up activities to staff and administrators as necessary.

* Provides guidance and works with college administrators to
interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements representing full-time and part-time faculty and professional employees in academic
areas.


* Work collaboratively with college administrators to review faculty course loads and ensure course overload requests comply
with contractual requirements and collective bargaining agreements.

Special Projects


* Manages all aspects of
district-wide academic events from planning to execution. Collaborates with team members to establish committees, reserve venues, and
coordinate logistics, as directed by the Deputy Provost.

* Supports Academic Affairs team members with procurement processes by
preparing documentation and managing contracts and board reports through internal systems. Works closely with ASA business office to track
deadlines for annual purchases requiring contract renewals and board reports.



* May be assigned to lead or support special
initiatives under the direction of the Deputy Provost.

QUALIFICATIONS

* A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
required. Master’s degree in higher education, public affairs, or related field preferred.



* Five years of programmatic or
administrative experience within a higher education administrative setting

* An equivalent combination of education and experience
may be taken into consideration based on the applicant’s credentials


* Knowledge and/or work experience relating to processes and
compliance in higher education desirable

* Experience working within a collective bargaining environment is desirable



*
Familiarity with relational databases and student information systems (e.g., Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions)

* Knowledge and
understanding of academic and student policy and compliance issues that affect faculty personnel and the delivery of quality educational
services


* Knowledge of shared governance as it relates to academic and student policy and compliance issues

* Excellent
interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills


* Strong organizational skills

* Strong analytical and problem-solving
skills


* Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment

* Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in handling
sensitive situations


* Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Teams)

Salary
Range
: $80,717 – $88,000


Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, knowledge, skills and
abilities, as well as other factors such as internal equity.
