Summary:

The Digital Learning Center (DLC) Audio/Visual Coordinator ensures that audio/visual equipment and media used for instruction at Casper College is functional, available, and effective, and guides, trains, and supports faculty on the use of physical instructional technology. This includes lecture capture and virtual meeting software technology. This position is also involved in determining technological needs in classrooms, designing systems to meet these requirements, and instructing faculty in the use of new educational and instructional technology within the classroom environment. This position reports to the Director of the Digital Learning Center.



Responsibilities:

The A/V Coordinator is responsible for preparing and teaching training sessions aligned with audience level of expertise/interest, participating in face-to-face classroom and Media design projects, providing support to full-time and adjunct faculty, and creating documentation and useful end-use resources for physical instructional tools. This position is able to learn and use new instructional tools and provide innovative uses within the classroom environment and leads professional development in areas of online technology integration in collaboration with Digital Learning Instructional and Technical Coordinator to provide leadership in the College’s use of instructional technology resources to enhance student learning. This position also supervises and trains student workers to maintain effective and efficient immediate support for instructional technology across campus.



Essential Duties

  • Provide support and instruction on the use of A/V equipment to Faculty and other authorized personnel.
  • Maintain a budget for classroom technology needs.
  • Create a training and development plan through documentation and one-on-one; this includes face-to-face, group work, multimedia tutorials, Webcasts, video, audio, guided self-study, etc.
  • Manage the delivery and setup of AV equipment for Casper College events and activities, and assist with its use.
  • Manage repair and routine cleaning, and adjusting of A/V equipment.
  • Manage projects and multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Maintain an inventory of all A/V equipment and supplies on campus.
  • Supervise student workers to deliver Media services.
  • Provide support and training to the campus with the lecture capture software and virtual meeting software technology.
  • Maintain support call log.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Education, or other related field, plus a minimum of 1 year of audiovisual work experience; OR
  • A Crestron AV Certificate, plus a minimum of 1 year of audiovisual work experience; OR
  • A minimum of 3 years of audiovisual work experience.
  • Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects
  • Demonstrated effective uses of technology in education
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and innovation
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of Word processing, database, and other related software applications

Desired Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Education, or related
  • Experience using virtual meeting software and lecture capture software
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems
  • Web design and graphics software experience
  • Knowledge of standard A/V equipment setup and operation
  • Familiar and current with A/V industry standards

Supplemental Information

Work Environment:


A typical work environment is a classroom and office setting requiring normal safety precautions. Work is usually performed during the normal workday; however, occasional early morning, late evening, and weekend work may be required. There may be periods of critical attendance during peak periods, where leave times may not be approved. Short periods of time will be spent outdoors traveling between campus buildings in various weather conditions. This position frequently works with audio/visual equipment.

Physical Demands:


The employee is regularly required to sit, speak, hear, use hands and fingers to handle materials and use a computer, feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee will occasionally stoop, kneel, and crouch. This employee may be required to walk while carrying items (A/V supplies, etc). Occasional to frequent lifting of up to 20 pounds may be required; less frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.
