Minimum Hiring Annual Salary:

Maximum Hiring Annual
Salary:
$43,281.00
To attain the maximum annual salary, employee must meet all minimum qualifications plus:
- 5 (five)
years of additional applicable work experience and/or degrees higher than minimum qualification degree. Degrees higher than the minimum
qualification degree can be used in combination with additional work experience. - A combination of related education, on-the-job work
experience, certifications and/or licenses that results in a candidate successfully meeting the minimum qualifications of the position, may
be considered.
The stated salary amounts are not guaranteed in the event employment ends with Aims during any fiscal year.

Job Description:
Aims Community College actively supports an environment that embraces the College’s Mission,

The Grounds Technician is a full-time,
non-exempt position reporting to the Manager of Grounds. The ideal candidate has one or more years of progressive experience in landscape
and grounds maintenance, or similar areas. The successful candidate will possess the skills and experience necessary to provide competent
services to the Aims community.
Turf Maintenance:
- Mow turf, roadway medians, and buffer zones with commercial mowers
and tractor-mower combinations. - Prepare areas for seed or sod; cultivate sod from existing areas if necessary, lay sod, and sow seed
as needed for landscape purposes. - Aerate, spray, fertilize, and perform necessary preventative turf maintenance.
- Monitor
conditions, cutting heights, and overall turf health. - Repair, maintain, and groom eroded areas to prevent safety hazards; maintain a
groomed appearance.
Landscape Maintenance:
- Tree pruning occasionally requires the aid of a 40-man lift when
reaching upper limb heights. - Perform backhoe and trencher excavation for underground utilities and irrigation systems.
- Move
equipment, supplies, materials, and excavation debris utilizing trucks and appropriate equipment. Chip and grind dead and removed tree limbs
and trunks with a commercial chipper to recycle as landscape mulch. - Mulch landscaped areas (rock, wood, etc.)
- Keep
irrigation ditches free from weeds and debris.
Snow & Ice Removal:
- Plow and/or sweep the roadways, parking
lots, and pedestrian ways with snow removal equipment. - Hand shovel; remove snow/ice in specific areas not accessible by motorized
vehicle/equipment. - Distribute sand, ice melt, or equivalent via specialized equipment or other means as necessary.
- Assess
weather, snow, and ice conditions. - Small grounds and landscape equipment operation and maintenance :
- Operate small equipment
used to groom and manicure the campus grounds (small mowers, trimmers, saws, blowers, vacuums, weed-eaters, etc.). - Repair; perform
preventative maintenance, responsible for the safety and working condition of all the small grounds and landscape
equipment. - Estimate materials needed to complete the assigned task, order equipment, and supplies.
Landscape Project
Work:
- Perform landscape demolition/renovation with skid loader, industrial tractors, and loaders to load, haul, lift, grade,
level, dig, plow, sweep, etc. - Assist in installing or modifying sprinkler systems during small landscape construction
projects. - Building Maintenance:
- Deliver and unload supplies and equipment.
- Provide clean-up
assistance. - Provide painting assistance.
- Assist in emergency repairs.
- Outdoor structure (benches, fences, gazebos,
bridges, etc.) upkeep to include repair, material replacement, and painting as necessary.
Other Duties as Assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED; plus one (1) year of proven, responsible experience in grounds
maintenance, construction, or a similar area, or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience. - A pre-employment
post-offer physical evaluation will be required of the selected candidate. - This position requires the use of a company vehicle for
business travel. The selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance. - Ability to function as
part of a team with exceptional interpersonal skills and aptitude for initiating and building relationships. - Ability to meet goals
and deadlines and to manage multiple tasks/work orders as a self-starter. - Ability to communicate via phone, text, email, or in
person with the Supervisor of Grounds. - Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and to communicate effectively both in
writing and verbally. - Ability to resolve issues out in the field and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work
independently and under minimal supervision. - Knowledge of proper operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment used in performing
tasks and basic mechanical and electrical principles. - Experience in safe handling, mixing, application procedures, and storage of
herbicides, pesticides, and chemical preparations. - Work as a team member and foster a cooperative work environment.
