Job Description
Supervise day-to-day operations of 25 – 30 Housekeeping staff in buildings assigned to ensure regularly scheduled routines and assignments are completed on a daily basis, within budgeted resources, and that an acceptable level of cleanliness is maintained in University facilities. Position is designated “essential personnel” for emergency closings.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Working knowledge of housekeeping procedures, equipment and products and their application. Skills and training in the use of products and equipment. Demonstrated math and communication skillls, both oral and written. Ability to handle multiple activities at the same time. Demonstrated ability to plan and organize housekeeping activities; to review daily reports and compile information; to follow up work plans to ensure timely completion; to problem-solve. Ability to supervise a staff of 20 – 30 people on a daily basis. Average computer skills needed in order to make updates on employee web-time entries, prepare annual evaluations, and respond to daily emails.
Special licenses, registration or certification
Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.

Level and type of experience
Considerable experience supervising housekeeping personnel; some experience organizing and planning housekeeping activities; some experience developing and maintaining program procedures and policies. Some experience operating standard housekeeping equipment; some experience in the use and application of chemicals such as germicides, disinfectants and caustic solutions.
Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)
Previous housekeeping experience in institutional setting, ideally higher education. IEHA Certification or equivalent. High school Graduate or equivalent. Good math and communication skills (oral and written).
Conditions of Employment
Facilities Management employees are considered essential personnel and subject to working during university closings.
