Image Processing Engineer

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the College of Engineering seeks candidates to apply for an hourly Image Processing
Engineer position.

Since its inception in 1996, the Virginia Commonwealth University College of Engineering has brought innovative,
real-world engineering education to Central Virginia. Comprised of five different departments plus the Dean’s office, the College of
Engineering enrolls more than 2,000 undergraduate and 450 graduate students in several degree programs supported by more than 600 full-time,

Position Responsibilities:

The
successful candidate will be responsible for developing AI/ML based infrared image processing with application of Artificial Intelligence
processes using machine learning techniques.



Duties include:

  • Develop diverse protocols for intelligent image processing that
    can be applied to various automation
  • Demonstrate key project outcomes in image processing and contribute to the AI/ML program as
    a part of the developer team

Required Qualifications:


  • Have experience or demonstrated ability to
    research and employ machine learning algorithms
  • Upper-level undergraduate or graduate student at VCU
  • Have experience
    or demonstrated ability to optimize code for speed and organization
  • Strong problem solving, organizational, prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty,
    staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an hourly employee at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS degree in Data Science
