Description
The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for
providing essential on-site support for Husson’s server infrastructure. This includes planning, installation, and maintenance, as well as
troubleshooting issues in order to achieve and maintain the high performance and availability required by the business and academic
applications supported by this server environment. The position also develops, administers, and is accountable for Husson’s Information
Security Program.
Examples of Duties
Server Administration
- Conducts daily operations
including monitoring, troubleshooting, capacity management, patching, hardware and software configuration, upgrades and performance
monitoring and adjustments - Administers multiple systems including regular after-hour & weekend support in a mission-critical,
24×7×365 running environment - Operates and maintains the back-up environments for all systems as assigned
- Manages and adheres
to Service Level Agreements and change control procedures related to the server environment - Composes clear and concise system
documentation and reports. - Conducts research on products in support of server planning and development efforts. Evaluates and
recommends products for purchase. Coordinates budget requirements with IT management. - Assists in developing long-term strategies and
capacity planning for meeting future server and backup system needs. - Adheres to and maintains security policies and
procedures. - Conducts routine review of server, network and IT associated logs, taking action on security related
findings. - Evaluates and recommends best practice IT security postures in order to protect information and assets that the university
is responsible for. Includes changes, products, policies and configurations as it pertains to network security. - Analyzes industry
related security requirements, recommending changes and providing technical advice. - Develops and administers Husson University
Information Security Program
General Information Technology
- Is a collaborative and supportive member of
the Husson IT team - Performs other related duties as required to accomplish the objective of the position.
Typical
Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- BS degree in Computer Science or a computer-related field
preferred, plus four years relevant experience, or the combination of education and experience that would enable performance of all aspects
of the position. - Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or
Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate are highly desirable. - Active Directory and Microsoft Entra
administration experience required. - Basic knowledge of SQL and scripting languages preferred.
- Must have a strong
understanding and knowledge of computer, network, and security systems.
