Hours: 37.5
Salary Range: $60,000-$80,000 commensurate with
experience.
Studio Managers are professional level staff that serve as College-wide resources. The primary role of Studio Managers
is to support students and faculty through management of educational facilities and technical assistance with curriculum. Studio Managers
have responsibility for the safe and effective operation of instructional spaces, including some or all of the following: classrooms,
specialized shops, major’s studios, equipment cages and computer labs.
Studio Managers serve a key role in supporting academic
functions, working under the guidance of Academic Affairs, and collaboratively with faculty, administration, and staff. Depending on the
position, the manager will work with the Department Chair/Program Area Chair, departmental faculty, facilities personnel, public safety,
finance personnel, and other departments as needed.
The Kennedy Studio Manager provides support for academic facilities,
technology/equipment and other related resources effectively and in good working order in support of a range of academic programming. The
manager is responsible for establishing standard space configurations, maintenance and organization of classroom support materials (e.g.
furniture, partitions, easels, model stands, pedestals, etc.) and/or make facilities/IT work requests when appropriate. The Kennedy Studio
Manager actively manages academic spaces in support of the following departments: FA2D – Painting, Illustration, PCE, Graduate, and Youth
Programs.

workers and stretcher shop monitors
- Studio Manager Responsibilities include:
- Studio Space
Management:- Establish and maintain studio practices and written protocols that meet nationally published safety standards
(Materials Safety, OSHA), accreditation standards, and follow consistent and best practices in the discipline and across other areas of the
College; Work with the Environmental Health and Safety officer to monitor pick up and disposal of hazardous, flammable materials, brush
cleaners, and regular safety inspections of relevant studio spaces. - Organize space and resources in collaboration with faculty to
best facilitate delivery of curriculum, including build out of space and construction of studio partitions and equipment. - Maintain a
clean and organized shop/studio environment to foster professionalism and good lifetime work habits. Work to create a culture of respect and
accountability for studios and shops and foster a strong foundation for safe studio practice. - Support end of semester departmental
reviews by facilitating access to space and resources.
- Establish and maintain studio practices and written protocols that meet nationally published safety standards
- Manage/Oversee operating funds:
- Manages
the Painting area operating budget in close collaboration with the Dean of Academic Planning and Operations and Chair of FA2D. Manage
operating budget(s) and related procurement of consumables, supplies, equipment/parts, and other materials that support the needs of daily
academic and studio/shop operational functions. Maintain records, monitor balances, and make plans for annual budget spending ahead of each
fiscal year.
- Manages
- Stretcher Shop Oversight:
- Manage and facilitate the use of the Kennedy Stretcher
Shop through support and/or hiring and oversight of shop monitors. Also maintain a variety of tools and equipment available for use by
students in studios.
- Manage and facilitate the use of the Kennedy Stretcher
- Studio Space
- Promote the College’s commitment to customer service by:
- Building
effective partnerships with co-workers throughout the College by freely sharing appropriate information and providing assistance when
needed; - Ensuring optimum service to all internal and external partners in response to all requests for service and
information; - Maintaining an environment that is welcoming to persons of all backgrounds, nationalities, and
roles.

Requirements:
Required
Qualifications:
- BFA or BA in Studio Art, or related field(s) or practice;
- Prior experience with studio and/or
classroom management; - Proficiency with a range of power tools and other shop equipment;
- Proficiency with MS Office software
and/or Google Suite software; - Good customer service and communication skills including oral, written and electronic;
- Ability
to meet the physical requirement of operating and maintaining a busy studio as well as lift, move and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in the fine arts or related field;
- Prior experience with
managing an artist studio or similar collaborative setting; - Prior experience with budget management.
