Description

UM Campus Dining invites applications for a Lead Cashier to supervise and provide training of students and temporary staff in the cashier area. This position is actively involved in all aspects of the Lodge Dining Center set up, service, and opening and closing tasks related to the Center’s operation.

This position works during the academic year (10 months/year, August through May).


Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and skillful cash handling and the use of the POS terminal
  • Provide outstanding guest service by smiling, greeting and thanking every guest that is encountered
  • Provide quantity food preparation and service when required
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and assist with inventories
  • Clearly and openly communicate with all UM Staff, Faculty, Students and all other guests
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and managers
  • May set up or close down the store following an opening or closing checklist

Minimum Qualifications


  • High School diploma and one (1) year of cashiering experience
  • Working knowledge and experience in food service
  • Must have experience with training and supervisory practices and procedures
  • Proficiency in operating a POS system in a food service environment
  • ServSafe certified or ability to become certified within one (1) year of employment
  • Excellent communication and guest service skills
  • Must have the ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times, and be able to work within a very diverse work force
  • Ability to be productive in a fast-paced environment and move throughout the operation as needed to perform tasks
  • Knowledge and experience using numerous pieces of standard food service equipment
  • Ability to effectively work independently and as a team member
  • Adherence to our safety standards, and to actively participate in, and support the advancement of, our health and safety practices

Compensation Title: Culinary Associate II

Work Schedule: Academic Year Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm 10 months/year, August through May



Probationary Period: Six (6) months minimum
