Job Summary
The Lead Clerk will be responsible for resetting the museum, cleaning the museum, sanitizing all areas and surfaces, interacting with guests, having direct contact with families at birthday parties, and assisting with simple experiments during the party. This position will also be responsible for cash handling, acting as head cashier, training floor staff, and supervising floor staff when Guest Services Manager is not present.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks
- Act as Floor Staff Team Lead in training Floor Staff.
- Act as Head Cashier when Guest Services Manager is not onsite.
- Assist Guest Services Manager in supervision of Floor Staff including, but not limited to scheduling, training, evaluations, recommendations, and reprimands.
- Act as a cash handler.
- Act as a key holder.
- Monitor guests in Museum and assist in interpretation of exhibits.
- Maintain Museum as a clean, safe environment.
- Opening: Turn on all exhibit components and assess needs.
- Closing: Reset exhibits, return all components to assigned areas, clean restrooms, sanitize all surfaces, and remove trash from the building.
- Maintain a positive attitude while working with guests and ensure that each guest has a positive experience.
- Birthday parties: Set rooms, provide hands-on experiment/demonstrations, clean, sanitize and reset rooms after parties.
- Once trained, provide hands-on experiments/demonstrations in gallery spaces using education carts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year experience with Customer Service.
Preferred Education / Experience
- Knowledge of cash handling and financial procedures

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
