The Mission of the High School
Equivalency Program at UTEP is to provide opportunities for academic achievement, self-improvement, and personal growth among temporary and
seasonal farm workers who have not earned a secondary-school diploma. HEP prepares program participants to successfully complete the HSE
exam and to gear students for career advancement that will maximize their potential for achievement.

Varying times between the anticipated hours of 8:00am- 6:30pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends.
FLSA

Salary: $40,480.00

This position is a grant funded, full time, temporary, subject to availability of funds position and is currently
expected through June 30th, 2026. This position is eligible for full benefits, including medical, dental, and vision. This position requires
travel.

Purpose of Position
The Educational Outreach
Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing the mission of the High School Equivalency Program (HEP) by planning, coordinating, and
implementing effective outreach and recruitment initiatives. This position focuses on identifying, engaging, and enrolling eligible
participants while building strong partnerships with schools, community organizations, and agencies that serve farmworker and
underrepresented populations. The ideal candidate is a passionate advocate for educational access, highly organized, and skilled at
connecting with diverse communities.
Essential Functions
Lead outreach activities to identify,
recruit, and enroll eligible participants into the HEP program.
Develop and implement creative recruitment strategies using various
tools and platforms, including digital media, radio, print materials, and community events.
Establish and maintain partnerships
with youth-serving organizations, community agencies, and educational institutions to expand program reach.
Coordinate with
university departments and farmworker-serving programs to support program initiatives and enhance participant services.
Conduct
presentations and informational sessions for referral agencies, schools, and community groups.
Ensure accurate and accessible
program information is provided to underrepresented populations.
Oversee the recruitment and selection process for program
participants.
Complete and maintain admission records and participant files in accordance with program policies.
Prepare
and submit recruitment, statistical, and assessment reports.
Manage and supervise the student records system to ensure data
accuracy and compliance.
Assist with verifying and preparing documentation for testing and student-related expenses.
Conduct follow-up activities with inactive participants to encourage re-engagement and program completion.
Provide administrative
support to ensure the smooth operation of the HEP program.
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use
institutional software systems.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and
applicable laws.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each

Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
and
Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in an educational
or grant-funded setting.
Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (oral and written) is required.
At least two (2) years
of experience working with low-income, first-generation college students or similar populations.
Strong understanding of higher
education processes, including academic and financial aid procedures.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with a
commitment to excellent customer service.
Proficiency in computer applications and database management systems.
Note: This position requires a valid state issued drivers license. This position requires travel.
