You can even access your medical information like lab results, TB test results, and immunizations any time using the free and confidential patient portal.
Job Summary
- Assesses and evaluates the patient’s condition, intervenes appropriately in crisis situations, and initiates emergency measures as necessary.
- Obtains and reviews patient’s current problem history and pertinent past medical history.
- Takes vital signs including blood pressure, pain evaluation, respiratory peak flow measurement, pulse, respirations, temperature, height, weight, pulse oximetry.
- Administers medications to patients, changes dressings, and obtains laboratory specimens of potentially infectious material.
- Educates patients about their diagnosis, contagion, self-care, follow-up, physical and psychological needs.
- Analyzes data and records analysis and data into electronic medical record (EMR). Sets up and assists providers with medical examinations, treatments and surgical procedures.
- Handles medical information telephone calls including status changes reported by patients.
- Accomplishes referrals, transmits prescription change and refill information, plans patient care, and serves as a professional interface with IUHC providers and ancillary personnel to obtain and communicate information regarding patient care, progress, and problems.
- Inventory and order supplies, medications, and equipment.
- Maintains cleanliness of assigned areas.
- Participates in teaching, training and instructions of new employees and professionals in training.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED) and complete a state approved nursing program and pass the NCLEX-PN exam
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- 1 year working as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Required
- LPN issued by State of Indiana upon hire
SKILLS
Required
- Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities
- Strong verbal communication and listening skills
- Possesses strong technical aptitude
- Demonstrates a high commitment to quality
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires sedentary work as well as extended durations of moving about the workplace. It requires the ability to move objects and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and the ability to discern between various objects and devices and to position patients. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
