Job Description Summary:
The Maintenance Technician performs preventative maintenance and repairs across campus facilities, including Residence Halls and student suites. Responsibilities include electrical, plumbing, carpentry, machine repair and HVAC work; diagnosing and repairing equipment; operating various tools and machinery; and maintaining campus vehicles. The role also supports event setups and ensures safe and clean work areas. The Technician will work safely and productively in order to achieve the department’s business goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications:

• Requires a high school diploma/GED
• 2 years of related maintenance experience
• Must have valid state issued driver’s license
• Strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4 year of related maintenance experience
• Trade skillset

Other Information:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement and perform regular preventative maintenance on equipment and campus facilities, including maintenance in the Residence Halls and student suites.
• Complete projects utilizing basic electrical, plumbing and HVAC skills, as well as, lubrication of campus equipment. Projects will be assigned based upon available skillset.
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
• Use of a variety of hand and power equipment including chain saws, push mowers, snow blowers, trimmers, edgers, rakes and shovels etc., as well as, electric meters and material handling equipment including fork lifts, large mowers and trucks with plows.
• Detect faulty operations, defective material, and/or defective equipment and report to the proper supervisor.
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas such as vehicles and equipment (sweeping floors, washing trucks, etc.).
• Facilitate room set-ups and tear downs for campus events.
• Perform basic repair and maintenance of campus vehicles and equipment including trucks, tractors, mowers and various other motorized equipment.
• Complete work orders or other assignments in a timely manner.
