MANAGER/TELECOM OPERATIONS

Position Summary:
Responsible for all aspects pertaining to the day to day operations of telecommunications systems, the management of telecommunications related activities as well as supervision and oversight of the Install Repair Technicians. Responsible for office operations regarding vendor accounts and supervision of inventory management.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a technical telecommunications related field.
Three years of experience in the telephony field.
Proven experience and efficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to distinguish colors.
Working knowledge of electricity/electronics with experience but not limited to the areas of digital/electronic switching, telephone system design, framework, installation and repair, data communications, security, voicemail systems, and outside telephone plant cabling.
Demonstrated ability to maintain meaningful preventive maintenance schedules.
Demonstrated ability to apply exceptional troubleshooting and communication skills, as well as the ability to interact successfully with the end user.
Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive attitude.
Willing to be on call.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree.
Technical writing skills.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for the day to day operations and management of telecommunications related activities.
Responsible for staff and student employment procedures and documentation.
Prepares monthly IT expenditure spreadsheet.
Utilizes software and hardware diagnostic tools to identify, diagnoses and repairs complex problems.
Responsible for troubleshooting of telephone and data circuits and equipment.
Works closely with other college and departmental technicians and collaborates with other IT staff.
Responsible for advising administrative supervisor of needs regarding repair facilities and equipment available, of needs regarding the altering of preventive maintenance schedules, and of needs regarding repair maintenance problems in general.
Participates in long and short range technology planning.
Maintains documentation regarding telephone and data configurations, operating procedures, and service records relating to communications on campus.
Supports students and staff on with on-site or phone consultation concerning adds, moves, changes to campus telephone and data operations.
Assists in collection of data for IT inventory management.
Participates with the Director of Networks in maintaining policies and procedures.
Coordinates, analyzes, and verifies payments and credits with vendors.
Maintains cost structure for services and equipment purchased by the university.
Purchases all supplies associated with telephone, data, cable television, security, network, and general office supplies and computers.
Performs research pertaining to cost effective contracts and purchases.
Responsible for telephone system design and outside telephone plant design.
Tests the operation of Telecommunications equipment.
Implements the latest technological advances.
Trains staff and the university community on the technology issues and equipment.
Direct supervision of the Telecommunications installer repair staff.
Oversight of installer repair work orders and submission of charges for services.
Coordinates work load for staff and analyze productivity.
Works with installer repair group on design and implementation of equipment and systems.
Performs inspection of telecommunication Installer repair work.
