Our team members help create the culinary experience by preparing and serving food for NDSU students, faculty, staff and guests. In addition, the Union Market Manager will lead in the recruitment, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluation for all Union staff. In this position, you are guaranteed 10 paid holidays, plus paid vacation and sick time. Description & Details:

  • Leads Memorial Union staff in recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating staff
  • Manages the Union and Retail operations to ensure that the needs of all NDSU students and dining staff are met
  • Execute all necessary tasks to assure a high degree of cleanliness, quality, and sanitation in food service areas
  • Maintains all equipment used at workstations in an acceptable and sanitary condition
  • Role model teamwork and excellent customer service
  • Enforce departmental and University policies and procedures

Work Schedule: 8:00am – 5:00pm | Hours will vary based on events, peak times, and academic breaks


Advertised Salary: $54,000+/year

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Associates degree/certificate in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Dietetics, Food Service Management, Business, or related field, OR equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a food service operation
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in a food service operation
  • Experience as a trainer with the ability to develop/implement dining and hospitality training programs

  • Working knowledge of food safety principles, food allergens, special dietary needs


  • Experience in food purchasing, controlling/maintaining food costs, executing inventories correctly

  • Experience with scheduling/controlling labor


  • Keen knowledge of trends, flavors, pricing and presentation

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate business levels



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • College or University experience preferred
  • Experience with Menu Management Software preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products preferred
  • Food Safety Certification preferred
