Position Information


Under close supervision of the Advanced Neuroimaging Director, the MRI
Technologist provides senior level support for the operation of state-of-the-art MRI, providing quality imaging expertise and service to
researchers conducting research utilizing MRI and to subjects participating in the studies. This role is essential in maintaining the MRI
scanner facility and managing all daily operations and administrative functions, including scanner workflow and operation, routine equipment
and supply maintenance, scheduling, and assisting with policy and procedure development, operating peripheral equipment for imaging
research, archiving imaging data, maintaining quality control of MRI scanner, and creating advanced research imaging protocols.

This
per diem role will have irregular, as-needed hours which will include evenings and weekends based on research needs. Demonstrated ability
and willingness to work with children and families and experience performing pediatric scanning is necessary for success in this position.



The full salary range for the MRI Technologist is $56.72 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as
education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work
authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for
staff.

Requirements

Education Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic
    Technology or Nuclear Medicine.


Experience

  • Minimum of 18 months of MRI scanning.
  • Experience with
    imaging research.
  • Experience working effectively with children and families, with an understanding of their unique needs in a
    healthcare environment.
  • Experience operating MRI equipment in a clinical setting, including availability to work evening, weekend,
    or after-hours shifts.
  • Experience with pediatric scanning.

Minimum Requirements

and interpret documents such as imaging protocols, informed consent and IRB documents and radiology reports. Ability to interpret a variety
of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to skillfully operate an MRI scanner. Familiarity with
computer systems, including Microsoft Windows and Office (Excel and Word). Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical
terminology.



Preferred Qualifications

Ability to read and interpret documents such as imaging protocols,

Department Custom Scope

routine equipment and supply maintenance, scheduling, and assisting with policy and procedure development . Operates peripheral equipment
for imaging research. Archives imaging data. Maintains quality control of MRI scanner. Creates and manages advanced research imaging
protocols. Nights and weekends will be required and adjusted accordingly to business needs.



Key
Responsibilities

  • Support to Research Operations – Maintains UCR CAN Facility. Provides quality imaging expertise and service
    to researchers. Responsible for all administrative tasks relating to research operations including: -Assists with development of policies
    and procedures, screening forms and other documents used at UCR CAN. Maintaining scheduling, work orders, email correspondences, billing and
    service contracts. -Manages all daily operations: schedules, tours, meetings, repairs, routine maintenance and more. -Orders all supplies.
    MRI specific items such as ear plugs, linens, vitamin e tabs, gel, etc. And non-MRI specific items such as paper, cleaning supplies, first
    aid kit, office supplies, etc. -Uses problem solving skills to support scheduling conflicts and safety screening concerns. -Maintains busy
    imaging schedule.

  • Subject Care – Assists with care of the subject and collecting ancillary data needed for research projects.
    Provides quality care to all subjects having MRI scans. Responsible for handling of subjects, MRI safety screening, injection of contrast
    agent if needed, and assisting with subject briefing to reduce their anxiety and to obtain subject cooperation and with collecting informed
    consent from research subject.

  • Billing – Completes billing procedures with appropriate documentation to ensure charges of
    research exams are received and provides information to ensure such information is complete and accurate.

  • 10%

  • Communication,
    Dissemination and Training – Effectively communicates with subjects, investigators, and other research team members. Provides training to
    researchers on basic operation and scanning procedures.

  • Safety – Responsible for developing and performing UCR CAN Safety
    Training to all users and research assistants. Follows all safety requirements of department and university. Practices safe sterile
    techniques. Oversees and maintains MRI safety guidelines, IRB subject management and advocacy.

  • Documentation – Responsible for
    completing all aspects of scanner and research study documentation following established procedures. Maintains a scanner log. Responsible
    for overall documentation and archiving research data.

  • Facility and Equipment Maintenance – Ensures facility and equipment is
    properly maintained. Sets up procedure rooms to include equipment and supplies for studies. Responsible for proper operation of imaging and
    associated equipment peripheral and software. Provides quality control of MRI scanner and other related equipment. Maintains advanced
    knowledge of procedural supplies and location of supplies. Ensures that procedure rooms are stocked. Ensures that sufficient amounts of
    radiopharmaceuticals are on hand for daily operations. Operates the MRI and peripheral equipment. Changes air filters on UPS cabinets.
    Ensure all systems are in good working order for MRI scanner, peripheral research equipment, water supply, HVAC units, Toxgard, and all
    other related systems.

    Maintains professional growth by participating in educational programs and activities to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices,
    and developments. Renews license and updates certifications to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a bi-annual basis. Maintains
    appropriate radiological Tech certification.
