Description
The Multimedia Specialist plays an active role in supporting and creating media experiences across campus as well providing technical support and expertise for Teaching and Learning space audio/visual technology. This position is ideal for someone passionate about video production, live event broadcast, and digital storytelling working with cutting-edge audio-visual technology, assist in producing high-quality content for events and classrooms, and collaborate with faculty and students on creative projects. This role will offer hands-on experience with industry-standard tools while contributing to a vibrant campus media environment. In addition, this role will work closely with the Multimedia Coordinator to support technology in multimedia classrooms and campus locations and provides professional experience and skills in supporting the existing planning and implementation of refreshed audio and video hardware installations.



Essential Responsibilities:

  • Produce and edit video content for campus events and digital platforms.
  • Assist with live streaming and broadcast setups for lectures, performances, and special events.
  • Stay current with trends in media production and streaming technology.
  • Assist faculty, staff, and departments in identifying and resolving multimedia classroom issues.
  • Provide technical assistance over phone, email, or in-person as needed.
  • Maintain accurate equipment inventory records and coordinate repairs and maintenance.
  • Train and mentor student staff in multimedia operations.
  • Engage in professional development and maintain knowledge of evolving technologies.
  • Supports the working order of audio and visual equipment and operates or coordinates the operation required for campus events.
  • Creates, updates and/or maintains technology or service documentation.
  • Assists in the training of student staff.
  • Must complete all required federal, state, institution, and department training.
  • Engages in a planned program of professional development. Continually maintains skills and knowledge relative to the position and technology industry, including best practices, evolving operational requirements, and industry trends.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Other Responsibilities


  • Participates in cross-functional projects at a departmental level.
  • Represents Colleges and the department as a principal contact for community members, vendors, contractors, and the public.
  • Demonstrates management skills, e.g., budget development and administration, policy development and implementation, personnel administration, and staff training and development.
  • Strengthen digital literacy skills through education and the application of digital technologies to effectively engage in information gathering, utilization, and data management while promoting a security culture.
  • Proficiency in working in a team-centered environment with a high degree of planning, communication, documentation, and customer service.
  • Must complete all required federal, state, institutional, and department training.
  • Engages in a planned professional development program and maintains skills and knowledge relative to the position and technology industry, including best practices, evolving operational requirements, and industry trends.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to unique social, cultural, and economic circumstances.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Colleges’ educational philosophy and mission.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Other Information:



This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible position. This position description is not all-inclusive as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned. Work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the academic year, with a possible shortened workweek during the scheduled summer hours’ time period. Occasional weekend and evening hours will be required to support campus events as well as participating in team On-Call responsibilities. Pay range: $23-$30/ hr.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years technical support experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training on classroom technology and/or event audio/visual systems.
  • Interest in media, film, or broadcast production.
  • Familiarity with Davinci Resolve, OBS, and streaming platforms is a plus.
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate technical processes to non-technical individuals.
  • Ability to engage respectfully with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
