Job Summary
The Network Administrator II position will provide support in resolving complex network issues for both wired and wireless including proactively identify, analyze, troubleshoot and diagnose issues with the goal of continuous improvement of service delivery. This position will be responsible for maintenance and configuration of complex essential network technologies in local and wide area networking, voice, and wireless.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks
- Efficiently and professionally manage impromptu analysis and discussion with client and provide technology strategies/solutions based on industry best practices.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
- Configure VoIP phones for deployment or changes to support customers.
- Create and assign phone numbers and long-distance access codes.
- Utilize network monitoring and alerting tools such as SolarWinds, AKips, PRTG, and Netflow.
- Configure, deploy, and maintain complex network technologies including core/access switches, routers, firewalls, wireless LAN controllers, Cisco Prime, Cisco ISE, Juniper Mist, and Juniper Apstra.
- Configure and maintain IP Telephony and VOIP technologies such as Call Manager, Unity, Cisco Emergency Responder, Contact Center/Attendant Console, PRI/SIP, and SBCs.
- Management of multiple types of remote network connections, including T1, ASE/ADE, and direct fiber.
- Provide budgetary assistance for future needs.
- Mentor Network Technician and Network Administrator I staff through leadership and setting positive examples.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience
- Associate’s degree
- May accept a combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience and proficient in at least 4 of the following enterprise networking areas:
* Switching o Routing
* Firewall o Wireless
* VPN
* Telephony
* Video
Required Education/Experience
- CCNA or equivalent non-Cisco certification
- CCDP or equivalent non-Cisco certification
- CCNP or equivalent non-Cisco certification
Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
- Advanced understanding of TCP/IP including layer 2/3 VLAN, VTP, Spanning-Tree Protocol, HSRP, static and dynamic routing protocols including EIGRP and BGP
- Understanding of network redundancy and standards including DWDM, LAGs, and VSS/VC
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team to identify, troubleshoot, and isolate technical issues and perform root cause analysis

Additional Information
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
