of cancer clinical trials that offer cutting-edge oncology treatments. The ACC CRU is currently comprised of 12 Research Teams that support
disease/discipline specific cancer programs within the ACC.

- The Nurse Project Manager will report directly to the Director of Clinical Research Operations for the Center
for Cell Therapy & Transplant (CCTT) and indirectly to CRU Central – Associate Director, Clinical Research Operations. The successful
candidate will serve as a clinical research nurse (CRN) for the CTT team and Project Manager of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical
Trials Network (BMT CTN) portion of our research portfolio to oversee projects related to BMT CTN. This includes assisting with study
feasibility and start-up, training of new staff and study procedures, development of operational workflows, and implementation of quality
improvement processes. This is in addition to serving as the assigned CRN on many of our actively enrolling BMT CTN clinical
trials.The Nurse Project Manager will serve in a CRN role for assigned research trials including complex Phase I-IV BMT or IEC
clinical trials. This includes study activities needed for activation, coordination of study visits, assessment of adverse events and
documentation, placing orders in the EMR, coordination across departments and divisions in support of trial activities, in-service and
collaboration with infusion or inpatient staff as appropriate, participation in study- and patient-related discussions in-person or via
email or telephone with the sponsor, family, colleagues, support staff or other entity that may occur outside of usual work hours. He/she
will act as a point-of-contact for triage, laboratory, clinic, infusion, radiology, advanced practitioners, inpatient, billing and pharmacy
and monitors/auditors, database query resolution and/or biospecimen when research coordinator is unavailable or when issues involve
escalation. He/she is expected to troubleshoot operational issues on a daily basis and assist with other research trials during absences or
when a specific team member’s workload exceeds capacity.The Nurse Project Manager will work closely with the ACC-CRU-CTT Director
of Clinical Research Operations to develop and implement specific initiatives to promote the BMT CTN and ensure collaboration and
communication across all stakeholders. He/she will liaise with the larger BMT CTN international network, participate in feasibility
assessments to determine which BMT CTN trials we should open at our site and with which team, initiate trial start-up and ongoing support of
operations, budget and billing and overall study progress. He/she may be asked to attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders,
current and future research collaborators, and collaborative groups across Penn Medicine. As some BMT CTN affiliate trials fall outside of
the ACC, he/she will work with collaborating departments and serve as a point of contact for protocol implementation strategies and the
patient trial experience. He/she will perform additional duties as assigned and will identify additional areas in need of project
management.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania without restriction or
limitation and 4 to 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. For state licenses where
Pennsylvania participates in a multi-state compact (e.g. registered nurses), a provider holding a multi-state license (MSL) would be
considered to meet the requirement for Pennsylvania state licensure. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred. 3-5 years of clinical research
experience preferred. Oncology experience highly preferred. AND:
- The BMT CTN Project Manager is responsible for
overseeing the clinical research process for all BMT CTN trials, understanding the research regulations, and the protocols to safeguard the
participant and contribute to the science of cancer care. The successful candidate must have: (1) proven critical thinking and
organizational skills to support care coordination and human subject protection; (2) a great deal of interest, enthusiasm, adaptability and
willingness to learn and grow; (3) ability to prioritize nursing functions while tending to the needs of the patients; (4) strong
communication skills and ability to maintain positive interactions with patients, their families and internal and external stakeholders in a
respectful and courteous manner; (5) demonstrated initiative in learning advanced features of complex interventional programs to more
effectively accomplish job duties; (6) familiarity with the BMT CTN organization and a level of comfort in liaising with them on behalf of
Penn Medicine; (7) Possess working knowledge of the Title 21 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), International Conference of Harmonisation
(ICH) and Good Clinical (Research) Practice (GCP) Guidelines.Position contingent upon funding.
