Responsibilities

DESCRIPTION
Performs a broad range of advanced and complex secretarial duties for a director, manager, or person with similar responsibilities. Exercises considerable judgment and discretion.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Provides advanced functional and operational support to an educational or administrative department.
2. Responsible for large budgets, purchasing, payroll, and attendance and leave record keeping for an office or department.
3. Assists Supervisor with confidential matters.
4. Composes, types, and edits broad range of routine and non-routine correspondence, documents, and reports.
5. Takes independent action to locate information and to resolve issues/problems related to department/area activities.
6. Responsible for the work and information flow of the office, monitoring people and processes to ensure efficiency.
7. Use of Microsoft Office Suite to compose a broad range of correspondence, documents and reports.
8. Interviews and recommends hire of secretarial/clerical support staff when needed.
9. Maintains office records in compliance with college requirements.
10. Provides back-up clerical support for department.
11. Performs other site and position specific responsibilities as assigned.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associate degree in Office Systems Technology or similar curriculum desired.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1. Skilled use of personal computer.
2. Involves problem solving skills which involve decision making.
3. Knowledge of detailed processes in advanced software such as PeopleSoft.
4. Good oral and written communication skills.
5. Commitment to working in a multicultural environment.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
1. Works in an office environment
