Big Bend Community College, a rural college serving vibrant, culturally rich
communities in the Columbia Basin of Central Washington, invites applications for an Outreach Coordinator in the college’s Outreach
Department. There are three (3) positions available. All positions are full-time, overtime eligible and are funded through a combination of
grants and contracts.
The Outreach Coordinator works with other Big Bend Community College (BBCC) staff to lead the development and
implementation of outreach activities across the entire BBCC service district. The successful candidate will be able to adapt to a rapidly
changing environment and will be prepared to support their work by maintaining a flexible schedule to include the potential for evening and
weekend events as well as travel throughout the service district.
The Outreach Coordinator has extensive involvement with BBCC
faculty, staff, students, parents, the public, and school district personnel to support the operation of BBCC programs.

Essential Job Duties
PRIMARY
JOB DUTIES:
- In collaboration with other campus departments and the Dean of Student Services, identify departmental
and program outreach needs. - Develop, implement, and evaluate a culturally responsive student outreach program, with particular
attention to communities of color, students with disabilities, and low-income communities. - Serve participants and students from
communities, high schools, and agencies within the college’s service district by providing information and individualized support
related to college access, financial aid, and career exploration. - Provide informational presentations and advising sessions to help
participants and families understand educational opportunities available at BBCC and other postsecondary institutions. - Explain and
guide potential students and their family members through the college and financial aid process, including admission applications,
placement, FAFSA/WASFA completion, and new student orientation. - Conduct eligibility screenings and determine participant
eligibility for student support services; complete and maintain intake forms, income verification, and needs assessments as
appropriate. - Follow up with participants and others who express interest in learning more about BBCC programs and postsecondary
opportunities. - Connect participants with college and community supports such as Workforce Education Services, TRIO Student Support
Services, and other student resources. - Maintain accurate participant records using dtracking tools in accordance with department
guidelines. - Serve as a team member for college outreach initiatives and activities. This includes managing the outreach events
calendar, planning and developing campus promotional materials, coordinating campus tours, and implementing outreach events and
workshops. - Provide information to area high school counselors, prospective students, families, and community partners about BBCC
programs, postsecondary opportunities, degrees, and certificates. - Develop and maintain partnerships with schools, community
agencies, and organizations that serve adults and underrepresented populations to identify and engage potential participants. - Plan
and facilitate workshops and presentations related to college admissions, financial aid, career exploration, and college success skills for
participants, families, and community partners. - Support efforts toward enhancing dual enrollment programs (e.g., College in the
High School, CTE Dual Credit, and Running Start). - Maintain and submit monthly and annual reports documenting services, outcomes,
and program objectives. - Ensure all services, outreach, and communications comply with applicable federal, state, and institutional
regulations and policies. - Participate in BBCC and community events to identify and engage potential participants while sharing
information about educational opportunities and support services. - Develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships
with staff, students, faculty, and community partners. - In conjunction with the Public Information Office, Word Services, faculty,
and other key campus departments, support the development and dissemination of marketing materials in print and online. - Represent
the college at professional and community organizations and events. - Participate in professional development activities,
conferences, in-service activities, and trainings related to college access, or student success. - Participate in college governance
and serve on college committees as directed.
Minimum & Desirable Qualifications
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a nationally accredited institution of higher education
- One-year
experience working with first generation college students, diverse student populations, and/or within programs that support individuals from
historically under-represented backgrounds - Experience using Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and
Outlook. - Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel throughout the BBCC service district on a flexible schedule
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual: English/Spanish
- Familiarity with Big Bend’s service
district and student populations - Experience with assisting individuals in admissions, enrollment and financial aid
- Able to
communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, including a demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate, interact, and develop
partnerships. - Able to effectively present information to both individuals and groups.
- Energetic, self-motivated, and
results-oriented; ability to work with limited supervision.
In addition to the minimum and desirable qualifications listed
above, we desire candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to serving systemically non-dominant student populations in higher
education.
