Job Summary
The Health and Wellness Medical Services department encourages applications for
the Part -Time Laboratory Assistant I! This role is responsible for performing a diverse range of tasks to aid in the testing and delivery
of laboratory specimens and implementing various laboratory procedures such as phlebotomy, capillary puncture, and other specimen collection
methods. This position will follow all quality, safety, and emergency protocols and guidelines established by CU Boulder while exhibiting
efficiency in work practices and clinical procedures during interactions with patients, peers, healthcare providers, and management. This
role ensures patient safety during the preparation and administration of care, including medication handling, procedures, infection control,
and fall prevention, consistently employing two patient identifiers and procedural time-outs.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Provider Support/Patient
Care/Customer Service:
- Follow procedures for venipucture and advise patients on accurate specimen collection.
- Carry
out data entry and processing of specimens, including labeling, centrifuging, pouring off, and freezing specimens as specified by test
orders. - Assist with various departmental clerical duties when assigned, such as data entry, inventory management, stocking supplies,
and providing phone support as needed - Aid in compiling and submitting monthly statistics and data reports. Maintain all relevant
phlebotomy logs promptly and according to schedule, such as maintenance logs and temperature records. - Follow Laboratory, CLIA, and
university guidelines. - Conduct verification of patient demographic information ensuring accurate labeling
- Perform Point of
Care (POC) testing at designated sites as needed, undergoing requisite training and proficiency evaluations as per Standard Operating
Procedure (SOP). Deliver effective onboarding services to new Wardenburg staff members. Promptly reports safety concerns, accidents,
incidents, and hazardous working conditions.
LIS Documentation:
- Act as a liaison between the Billing
department and the students regarding billing concerns.

What We Can Offer
The
annual salary range for this part-time position is $23,500 – $29,370.50.

What We Require
- High school diploma
or GED required. - Phlebotomy certification from an accredited institution.
- One year of phlebotomy experience
required.
What You Will Need
- Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training
preferred.
What We Would Like You to Have
- BLS certificate (upon hire or can be obtained within three
months of hire).
