The Fiscal Department at Long Beach Community College District is currently seeking a highly qualified and
detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Payroll Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a
range of critical payroll functions, including processing, reconciliation, verification, administration, and reporting, all in accordance

Duties
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general supervision, performs a
variety of highly responsible specialized and technical duties in support of the District’s payroll to ensure the timely, accurate payment
of District employees; and performs related duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Payroll
Specialists are responsible for performing highly responsible payroll and other assigned general accounting processing, reconciliation,
verification, administration and reporting duties. Incumbents are expected to perform these functions in an accurate, timely manner in
accordance with legal requirements and sound financial management principles and practices.
Payroll Specialist is distinguished from
Senior Payroll Specialist in that incumbents in the latter class perform duties of higher complexity requiring more in-depth knowledge of
applicable laws, rules and regulations, as well as District policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education, Training and
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or a related field, and one (1) year of progressively responsible
experience performing payroll-related duties, including review of timecards and processing of payroll or an Associate’s degree and three (3)
years of experience as listed above; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Licenses; Certificates; Special
Requirements:
May require a valid California driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District’s
vehicle insurance policy.
Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection
