Job Summary:
The Assistant Custodian Supervisor supports the Custodian Supervisor in overseeing custodial operations across campus facilities. This role ensures high standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer service while helping coordinate staff scheduling, training, and supply management. The individual must be familiar with all campus buildings and capable of rotating between locations to cover for absent staff. As a key resource within the Physical Plant department, the Assistant Custodian Supervisor fosters strong working relationships to enhance operational efficiency and service quality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide courteous, professional support to students, faculty, staff, and visitors
- Ensure proper use, storage, and disposal of cleaning chemicals
- Perform supervisory duties in the absence of the Custodian Supervisor
- Assist with staff training and scheduling coordination
- Carry out cleaning tasks as assigned, including sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, buffing, polishing, trash removal, and general sanitation
- Complete daily cleaning assignments across various campus buildings
- Respond to custodial emergency needs after hours when called
- Be onsite after hours to provide evening custodial staff with guidance and oversight as needed
- Support other departmental roles and responsibilities as assigned

- Ability to multi-task, organize, manage time effectively, and keep tasks appropriately prioritized
- Ability to work with, assist, lead, and take directions from others in the interest of operating the custodial duties of the Physical Plant to its optimal efficiency
Work Setting:
- Reports to the Custodian Supervisor in coordination with the Physical Plant Director
- Expectation of on-campus presence with attendance and punctuality
- Promote personal safety, safety procedures, and a safe work environment
- Employment at will
- Full-time status
- 12-month appointment
- Non-exempt

Minimum Requirements:
- Basic written, verbal, and math skills
- Good communication skills and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous custodial experience
- Knowledge of scheduling employees, chemical mixing and handling, and tools associated with custodial duties
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the President of SWOSU or their designee may find appropriate
