Overview
The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, located on the George H. Cook Campus, is one of the largest schools of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. We pursue excellence in research, teaching, and outreach in areas of study that address the biological spectrum from molecules to ecosystems. Our emphasis is on both the fundamental sciences and the social and human dimensions.We offer 21 undergraduate majors, including plant and animal sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, agriculture and food systems, landscape architecture, food and nutritional sciences, ecology and evolution, marine science and oceanography, environmental sciences and meteorology, human ecology, entomology, and environmental economics.
In addition to instruction in the classroom, field, and laboratory, our students have opportunities for experiential learning on and off campus, including a growing emphasis on international experiences through short- and long-term study abroad. Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Associate II – Environmental Science for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. A new Program Associate II will be hired to work with the Extension Specialist in Water Resources on grant-funded projects and will report directly to the Extension Specialist.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Implements municipal/county stormwater management programming activities of the Rutgers Cooperative Extension (RCE) Water Resources Program.
- Assists with the preparation of impervious cover reduction plans, green infrastructure feasibility studies, and educational/outreach materials.
- Assists with green infrastructure concept design development and implementation.
- Assists in coordinating water resources Extension efforts in New Jersey.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.

Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, agriculture and natural resources, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications/Licenses
- A valid driver’s license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong writing, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Suite.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and ArcGIS.
- Working knowledge in identifying green stormwater infrastructure opportunities and watershed management.
- Experience with the development of impervious cover reduction/stormwater management plans.
- Experience implementing nature-based green infrastructure solutions.
- Ability to engage in self-directed learning to develop new skills to address evolving project activities.
- Ability to work effectively with guidance and instruction but without needing constant direct supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge in design and construction of green stormwater infrastructure practices.
- Experience with site evaluations and the inspection of stormwater infrastructure (e.g., catch basins, detention basins, stormwater outfalls) and construction oversight.
Equipment Utilized
- Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, ArcGIS, AutoCAD.
Special Conditions
- Some evening and weekend work may be required.
