Description Summary:
The Community Engagement Coordinator supports the Center’s mission to advance health equity through education,
research, training, and outreach. The role coordinates programs and partnerships across Wichita and Kansas City, strengthens local
engagement, and supports data collection and reporting. The position reports to the Center Director and works with associate directors and
staff across sites. The role also includes engaging with community health stakeholders, contributing to data analysis, reporting, and
supporting the development of research proposals.
There is significant overlap in the communities and stakeholders served by both
centers, and the coordinator will work collaboratively across Kansas City, Wichita, and with faculty and staff at the University of Kansas
Medical Center.
Job Description:
Job Duties
- Collaborate to support the Center’s research and
community engagement activities in Kansas City and Wichita, ensuring alignment across all pillars: of research, education, training and
outreach. - Build and maintain relationships in Wichita by attending and representing the organization at events in both
areas. - Develop and execute strategies to spread knowledge about the center and its initiatives across both
communities. - Enhance community understanding and support for the center by engaging with local stakeholders and organizing
educational events. - Represent the organization at various events and meetings in Wichita, ensuring consistent engagement and
representation.
Pillars
Community Engagement
- Build and maintain partner relationships in
Wichita and Kansas City. - Represent the Center at meetings and community events.
- Plan and execute outreach strategies that
grow awareness of Center programs. - Support logistics for local education and engagement
initiatives.
Education
- Coordinate workshops, forums, and learning sessions.
- Prepare and share resource
materials with residents and partners. - Track attendance and basic outcomes for
events.
Research
- Collect program data and maintain clean records for Wichita-based projects.
- Assist
with surveys, focus groups, and IRB-approved activities as directed. - Support preparation of summaries and
reports.
Training & Outreach
- Support mental health, chronic disease, and wellness program
delivery. - Coordinate logistics for state and regional awareness events.
- Document outreach, meetings, and expenditures for
reporting.
Additional Duties
- Assist with newsletters, event promotion, and basic social media
coordination. - Contribute to quarterly impact updates and year-end summaries.

Environment
- May be hybrid (in-person and remote).
- This position requires occasional travel and may require evening or
weekend hours depending on event or project needs. - Reliable transportation and ability to travel occasionally to
Wichita.
Required Qualifications
Work Experience:
- 3 years of experience in project coordination,
health promotion programming, community outreach, or research support. Relevant education may substitute on a year for year
basis. - Project management experience.
- Experience using data management systems and/or programs.
Preferred
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Work Experience:
- Prior experience in community
settings (organizations, non-profit, government, etc.). - Experience with program implementation and capacity
building.

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this
position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in
making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements
of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the
minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
