SBDC Executive Director

The Saint Vincent College Small Business Development Center supports economic development in Southwestern Pennsylvania through the
provision of information resources, educational programs, and no fee consulting services. The SBDC serves a two-county region consisting of
Westmoreland and Fayette counties. This position will provide senior level leadership over the Saint Vincent College SBDC program.

Position Title: SBDC Executive Director


Reports to: Dean of the McKenna School

Supervises: Business Analysts, Office Manager


Primary Function: The Executive Director
of the SBDC supervises the daily operation of the Center including the development and management of the budget from Federal, State, and
private sector sources. Identifies and cultivates additional opportunities for providing education and technical assistance to Pennsylvania
small businesses.

Required Qualifications:


Education: Masters Degree is required,
preferably in business administration. A Bachelors Degree in a business-related field is required.


Experience: Several years of experience in the operation of a business directly in a managerial capacity.
Experience with publicly or privately funded business assistance programs is strongly preferred. 



Essential
Duties:

  1. Establishes Center priorities and oversees their implementation to ensure compliance with PASBDC stated goals
    and objectives.
  2. Develops Center budget(s) and approves financial reports to multiple funding agencies and to the appropriate Saint
    Vincent College officials.
  3. Reviews and approves plans, budgets, expenses, programs and activities of the Center and ensures
    compliance with College and all relevant external policies.
  4. Develops grant applications and proposals and seeks out avenues for
    funding.
  5. Develops/prepares all reports required by the PASBDC Lead Office Director for State and Federal funding agencies.
  6. Designs, establishes and directs an organizational structure and staffing to effectively and efficiently achieve the goals of the
    Center. Trains, supervises, guides, coaches, mentors, evaluates and provides leadership to the SBDC organization.
  7. Establishes and
    implements short- and long-range plans, goals, objectives, policies and procedures in compliance with PASBDC requirements.
  8. Ensures
    compliance and reporting of the Center’s consulting activities, client case management, and the tracking of reportable hours.
  9. Works with the Office Manger to craft educational programming events of the center.
  10. Represents Saint Vincent College at meetings
    of the PASBDC leadership and participates in other regional and local meetings involving economic development. Remains attentive to sources
    of capital that could prove helpful to existing and future clients.
  11. Oversees professional development standards in compliance with
    the PASBDC requirements.
  12. Develops strong legislative relations in accordance with PASBDC requirements and keeps Pennsylvania and
    Federal elected officials informed about the activities of the SBDC.


OTHER DUTIES:

  • Engages in
    effective interaction with the Dean of the McKenna School of Business. Provides periodic status reports for SVC administrators to keep
    them informed about SBDC activities.
  • Cooperates with Western PA SBA and PASBDC personnel related to periodic Center performance
    reviews.
  • Attends Directors meetings conducted by the PASBDC Lead Office and the Directors Association.
  • Represents the
    Center in economic development organizations and at other special functions.
