Job Description Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Public Safety, the Senior Digital Intelligence
Analyst is responsible for gathering and analyzing online and crime data to identify trends and potential threats associated with the
university and surrounding community. The ideal candidate is a tech savvy professional who is responsible for the collection, analysis, and
dissemination of digital and sensitive information in support of threat detection, law enforcement, and security functions. The role
requires the understanding of digital ecosystems, data/crime analytics, and intelligence methodologies. Knowledge and experience utilizing
advanced analytics to monitor and respond to ongoing and emerging threats, optimize decision thresholds, and shape strategic risk mitigation
efforts.
Work includes the retrieval and analysis of crime and threat data, the preparation of informational reports for various user
groups and providing technical assistance for special projects. The Senior Digital Analyst will directly support the Division of Public
Safety on law enforcement matters, threat assessment, emergency management and risk management. This position will interact on a regular
basis across university communities to include the Division of Student Affairs, faculty, staff, and students.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institute of higher education in
a related field. - Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with individuals from different departments and diverse
backgrounds. - Demonstrated ability and experience in writing assessments and analytical reports.
- Strong technical skills and
experience with threat intelligence frameworks and open-source intelligence tools, data analysis, GIS mapping software, and other
applications. - Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn, grow, and attend
training. - Excellent organization skills and the ability to multi-task.
Preferred
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Forensics, Data Science or any related specializations or
equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. - Three years of job-related experience in digital, crime, and threat
analysis. - Self-motivated and able to work independently with strong attention to detail.
- Experience with Verkada and/or
Genetec (or related camera system) video surveillance tools.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position is
subject to additional hours that extend beyond the typical work hours, to include weekends and holidays.
Duties:
70% – Intelligence Collection, Monitoring, Analysis, & Reporting:
- Gather digital intelligence from open-source
platforms, social media, web traffic, etc. - Utilize threat detection and open-source intelligence tools to proactively analyze
structured and unstructured data to identify, assess, and mitigate potential threats. - Research and monitor patterns, structures,
trends, and activities online to proactively identify and mitigate threats, security concerns, and crime. - Develop dashboards,
visualizations, and detailed intelligence reports for stakeholders. - Conduct and log threat assessments and open-source checks for
law enforcement. - Manage and disseminate the collection of digital, threat, and criminal intelligence data.
- Produce
intelligence products that enable data/information driven law enforcement, security, and emergency management efforts. - Generate
crime trends and maps with data and GIS mapping software. - Conduct link analysis in support of major cases and security
matters. - Process and analyze video footage in support of law enforcement cases, security issues, and emergency/threat
situations. - Conduct research and complete assignments requested by leadership within the Division of Public Safety.
30%
– Partnership, Outreach, and Educate:
- Develop and maintain a close network with local, state, and Federal analysts and with key
taskforces to include the Virginia Fusion Center. - Prepare and present clear and concise intelligence briefs to various
groups. - Educate and inform students, staff, and faculty about online threats, digital literacy and criminal trends impacting campus
and the local community. - Work closely with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and partnerships
to enhance safety, security, and awareness across campus. - Representation on university and community wide committees and
teams. - Coordinate and organize schedules and events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary is $80,000 or
higher, commensurate with experience.
